Any front tire issues with a 2" fenderwell header on a '69 Dart. Transitioning from early A SB to the 69 BB Dart. The early A has some clearance issues with front tires and that's with a 1 5/8 header. More room with a '69?
 
While the 67-76 As have a longer engine bay / fenderwell, it still isn't big enough to allow for 4 tubes and a decent size tire. Fenderwell headers fail the basics of performance header construction.
1) equal length primaries
2) primaries not exceeding 36"

Just my opion....others may vary.
 
while I agree with HemiDenny for the most part, tire clearance Sucks. Not positive but I believe my Headman fender well headers are equal length.
I also felt a difference when switching to them over the Proparts I had. should have done some testing but....
there was also a noticeable drop in under hood temps. it was not just because of the holes for the fender well headers as they were there with the pro parts as well.
I have run Hooker fender well, Pro parts & the headman in my Dart. I prefer the Headman.
I have also dealt with the CPPA / TTI under chassis big block headers on a friends car.
 
What am I looking at for front wheel/tire combo? Will "mostly" be at the track? Remember the part# for the Hedman fenderwells?
 
I have Headman 2"Hedman Husler Race Headers 75161 with 25" tire and its close. My buddy had Hooker fenderwell headers on his 69 Barracuda with a 165 something on it and it rubbed on a hard turn but if your more worried about strait line like me there fine. I`m running a 4speed so I`m sure I will be under the car a bunch I`m not fighting headers and the tranny

I noticed this a few weeks ago and had front wheel clearance issues on my 73 w 2" primary fender well units myself. Yes you can keep the 15" front wheels just go w/a lower profile. We seem to like our skinny fronts & a majority end up w the "skinny" 165's on them usually 80's an actual 165 80 r 15 is over 26" tall. They will rub slighty on deep turns esp. the right turns. So I went to another car (that I had) and found a pair of 165 /65/r 15's. I measured them .... Same damn height... Go figure. I went to the tire store and we ran a tape on a couple of brands. Geeze these tire mfg's are like Jean mfg's these days. Some aren't that accurate. I ended up with 185 55 r 15's to make sure. I may have over did it a bit. I plan on pulling the front wheels off the ground, so I went small. These are only 70$ a pc and still rated at @ 130 mph

I found that size at pepboys but may depend on the state your in.

When Z-speed rated tires were first introduced, they were thought to reflect the highest tire speed rating that would ever be required, in excess of 240 km/h or 149 mph. While Z-speed rated tires are capable of speeds in excess of 149 mph, how far above 149 mph was not identified. That ultimately caused the automotive industry to add W- and Y-speed ratings to identify the tires that meet the needs of vehicles that have extremely high top-speed capabilities.

Ironman Imovegen2 1855515 82v893682 56.00 a pc. 30 install etc. I had the ol' Cragar supertricks 2 pc (leaking) so I went w/ tubes(3np37). I'm using a slightly narrower wheel than recommended they are probably 5"min tires. I used them since they were cheap and convenient. Robertson tires. You can order a better (low profile tire) It would have to be ordered. They jump up in $ drastically from here.

I have hooker 2 inch, I think I have devised a way to fix the tire clearance issue.
I need to first find out if there's a local coating company that can recoat the welds.
Then I'll modify them
