I heard that the stock springs could damage a fiberglass hood on an A-body? Is this true?

If so, then what do you use for a bolt on hood? I think I’ve heard of using Daytona springs.

They actually make light weight hood springs for glass hoods, i have one on now, the other one poped off. Problem is you got to remove the fender to put them on!! GRRRRRRRR. Make sure you stake the slot good when you replace yours or you'll be in the same boat as me.

I popped my old springs off while the inner splash shields were off
on my '67 Barracuda. Very easy to get to. And yes the stock springs
were to heavy for the AAR hood.

Guess I'll have to order some light weights from atomicdog.

Do you mean Daytona as in front wheel drive? If so I'll make
my way to the salvage yard and pick up a pair.

Yup... I think I read about it on Moparts.com years ago.

hmm... my girlfriend drives a daytona and i'm looking to put a glass hood on the duster..... i wonder if she'll notice.... :toothy7:

Well, I'm going to chance it. Got the springs today for 25$...

Put the Daytona springs on the '67 Barracuda today. I did have to
remove the fenders so I could wind up the spring about half
a turn. Haven't installed the hood yet, but it feels like they
will be ok. I put the spring retainers back on and then I added
a hose clamp to make sure they stay put.

LOL...I did the hose clamp thing too, just for insurance!
