Finally getting an early A-Body

-
Also Vic, if you check out cosgigs 66 it looks like he eliminated the indicators. Might be an option for you. If you get ahold of some later it wouldnt be a big deal to drill out the holes and run the wires for them. Just a thought seeing as you are about to start on the body work.

vic are you looking for the housing or the lenses??? the lenses are available,,repoped,,,i already gave you his web site,,i may have turn signal housings,,let me know [email protected]

My housing are ok, the lenses are bad and I can get them, thanks. I just thought that those where soo nice, but thats okay. I am needing front floor pans right now, that will be the first repair I make, then putting in the hump. That inner panal that has the rust on the pass side, I need one of those too(See pic above). I am also needing a K-member, I have never heard from that guy that had one. Then I can put the disc brakes together after I get the chasis painted.

vic e mail me i wil give u a e mail of a friend that has my old k rame out of my other 66, he has it for sale on this site,,with motor mounts,,,
e mail me [email protected]

I would like to find a good panal fstfish, small blk's 65 may have one, I have been sick so that slowed me way down. I will be E-mailing you about that K-frame, thanks fstfish.

Great badawg, I will pm you.

I got a couple hours of time today and I got all the front suspension loose but not yet off of the car. The shocks and the steering turned out to be all new parts, just need a little cleaning. I will be taking the old K-frame off next with the suspension, I will be using very little of it. I also got the firewall all cleared off including the covers and harness. The car didn't come with a heater so I am pluging up the holes along with cleaning up the whole firewall. I was lucky to see the harness is nice and soft and in tact recently all covered with coil covering. Did you guys put in new brake lines on your cars?

Looking good Vic! Mines originally an Arizona car so I was lucky that all the lines look great. But I know that Im going to have to run some new 1s for the front when I get the proportioning valve and master cylinder on. Keep the pics coming!

Regarding the re-use of brake lines - it really depends on how your look. I found that with some elbow grease mine cleaned up fine - for the front. The rear line was fairly shot, so I replaced it.

Before you remove the k frame - drill some small holes thru the frame above the k frame bolts. Spray some penetrating oil in there and let it set a day before trying to remove them. You might save yourself some agony or possible damage to the captive nut inside the frame rail.

Hello Vic Sorry I missed you this weekend.
The barracuda is looking good man, You have been busy.
I hope you are feeling better and I put the nice emblem letters on your barracuda in the box that Badawg sent you, They sure are in nice shape.

Thanks Memike and thanks for the delivery, they are nice arn't they. Do we have some great people around here or what! I can't wait to get my car painted and start getting it back together.
I finally got the K-frame off and all in one piece. Everything is new on the front end, does anybody need any sbp front suspension parts? Next I will be taking the rear end out and the fuel tank then it's wire brush time and lots of it. Clean off all the surface rust and spray it with rust killing paint. Frame stiffners will also be done along with the floor repair I hope!

We finally got some time yesterday to get a few things done. My best helper got in and did a bunch of sanding and will be doing more today. I myself was patching the rust from the old battery tray and will be patching the holes from the fenderwell headers. I recruited some sanders yesterday so things may be moving forward alittle faster I hope.

I see that you and your best helper is moving right along.
I hope you have a good day today. Wish I was there.

vic your moving fast,,there is another very affordable k frame in the for sale section of this site,,he is a good guy to deal with..he is in NJ

vic no its not there is one on this site in the parts for sale section,,,i think he was asking 25 bucks,, he is in nj,,,,good guy i think the spelling of his name is phisixx some thing like that,,,then a friend of mine has my old k frame on here also for sale 85 bucks with motor mounts e mail me ill give you his e mail [email protected]

I am cool, I got a set back today from my engine builder, a $650.00 bill for redoing the heads. It may be low, or high I don't know but he qouted me 400 going in is why I am a little put back. Untill I get that settled, the parts are on hold. I took a crank and a blk to another place for fitting, that should be coming in soon too, now I am scared. If I could find the $25 one I would get that one.

Looking good Vic!! Dont let yourself get too overwhelmed. I kind of went on a spending spree when I first got mine home and after realising that I spent as much as I did it quickly became time to spend more time in the garage and less time looking for things that I didnt need right at the moment. The only dealines on a build are the ones we set and if we have to push them back because life just gets in the way its no big deal in the end. Things will work out for you, keep up the good work my friend!!

I am with ya Badawg and thanks. I haven't slowed down too much on the shop time, I just about have the drivers inner fender sealed up, and the wife has the passenger side of the body almost ready for the first coat of primer so things are groovin. Won't be long and the paint will be flying!

I managed to get one of my fender patches started, that is very hard for a rookie like me. I think it is going to fit, at least I am hoping. Won't know untill I get it all welded in and then I can see how smooth it will be.

started big patch on drivers side.jpg

vic,,look in the parts for sale section the sellers name is phisxx he was asking 25 bucks for a 65 k frame,,,its there just look,,good luck comming along very good keep posting pics,,

I will be checking it out fstfish, thanks.

I managed to get my inner fender patches made and tached in and the inner fenders all sanded. I will be finishing off the welding tomorrow and doing some hammering and puttying to make them look good. Next the firewall clean up and sanding. Then it will be underneath to start cleaning and painting, Momma will be doing the upper body. I did get most of the bad drivers floor pan out, I will get the pass floor pan out and get some pics. Looking forward to dropping the rear end and gas tank also, I want the underside to be completely repainted and undercoated.

pass inner fender repair in.jpg

COMMING along nicely,,vic,,ide be careful with that under coating,,,
my car is from missisippi,,but lived a lot of its life in arcansas,,,i cant spell it lol
any way all i did was wire wheel the under side and prime and paint it,,,it doesnt get driven in the snow,, and doesnt sit out side

but i had a dailey driver 66 when i lived in illinois,,it was under coated from the factory,,and it seems to me the under coating trapped a lot of moisture,,

i dont think they use that junk these days,,,remember rusty jones,,and all the other rust preventors,,,they are all gone out of busniess,,,

just my thoughts,,,

We have been puttin' it to the grindstone boys, the cuda is in getting close to seeing some paint, maybe primer but paint. I have all the welding done on the patches and the engine bay all sanded. The wife and the hands have almost all the body sanded. We are going underneath tomorrow to start stripping everything. I have done my homework and I am going with fstfish's advice and going with paint w/some powdercoating. It will be easier and faster, I am not looking for trailor gueen quality but I want it to be clean and new. Small Blk was deep into it with both hands, its hard to hold him back!!

Oh, and I have a K-frame and pass side front floor pan found so we are gaining great guns now! Only need a drivers floor pan and we are off!

It's a done deal! We left saturday after a battle with Small Blks trailor and we returned just now, 12:00 midnight monday night. It turned out to be a better car than I thought. Pics tomorrow right now sleep is the order of the day. Here is one of it on the trailor getting ready to leave Jackson Miss.

That's killer! Are you a Cheby guy that turned Mopar? Wow, it looks like you going all out on it.
