After over a year I am finally going to be taking my dart back to the track. Last years two trips were disappointing with a best of 13.38 and tonight at test and tune I am hoping for some 12s. I also finally got a tach in the car so be ready for a thread asking about my converter on Saturday. One question I have is what is a safe rpm to shift at with a stock bottom end 360? I was thinking about shifting at around 5700 but I'm afraid I will be leaving power on the table.

If all goes well then I am getting into a bracket race Sunday for some DOT tires drags since I have the quick time pros. It's going to be a 32 car field and the pay out is 1000 so I'm excited for that.

I'll post plenty of pictures and wish me luck!

good luck, go and have some fun!

I´m pretty satisfied with my hoosier qtp´s...they are fine.

My car is hooking up great. I was having an issue with it cutting out a little before the 1000 ft mark. I put a new ignition on it and I am taking a different carb so I can see which set up works best.

I forgot what you have in that engine. My impression is if it's bone stock lower end or has minimal head work you'll find shifting lower will make it faster.

5700 rpm's is nothing for a stock bottom end 360. I know nothing about your cam/heads to have an idea of what power band would be. Shift it at 5700 one run, and shift at 6000 another run. See what the E.T. slip shows.... :)

318will has it. Pick an RPM and go, then step it up another 200-300. The 484 will do OK to 6000-6200ish is my guess. Pretty long duration at .050 with 241ish. It may like shift point there or even higher.

Had a stock bottom end 360 with good rod bolts, 7200 on juice and 7400 through traps.

They are pretty tough pieces.

Arp rod bolts on it and head bolts. I am going straight there from work so I am planning on getting as many passes as possible in.

I ran that exact same cam and carb with a LD 340 intake and 340 J heads. 5700 rpm's worked the best for me. Your heads may take you to 6000 for your best
