I worked all weekend getting my final coat of paint on the differential housing. I also worked on my disc brake shields. I've included before and after pics. I was very pleased at my first attempt at faux galvanized spangle.
Thanks bro. I was pretty happy with the final product. I got the differential housing painted this weekend. Just got done putting on the "war paint" markings.
I got the 8 3/4 bolted back together this weekend. Installed new bearings and seals and got the bearing preload adjusted. I should be getting my brake hardware sometime this week to finish it off completely.
I finished my taillight and plastic covers today. Housings were cleaned and refurbished inside and out. Lenses were polished and repainted. New DMT gaskets used during assembly. I'm very pleased with the final product.
I hope to get the rear drum brakes assembled this week and paint my drums red. Next assembly will be the heater box.
thanks fjr, mine are in pretty good shape but I definitely want to clean them up before re-install...althou that's a way's down the road at this point...
Finally finished everything on the differential tonight. All new brake components installed and the drums are painted red. My brother photographed the numbers on the third and sized them 1:1 for me to make a stencil.
My heater box is complete except for the part number stamp and a factory black blower motor. I replaced the original motor back in the early eighties and didn't hold on to it. I think the aftermarket motors are "off" in appearance and want to get a mopar unit.
Next component will be my steering column. Probably will work the dash frame in at the same time so that I can get them painted together.
Nice work - in looking at the rear brakes; did you put the brake shoes on backwards? It is hard to tell in the picture but the short shoe should go in the front, the picture looks like you have the short shoe on the rear.
The heater box is finished. I'm just waiting on the blower motor from the repair shop. Had my office supply company make up a rubber stamp according to my specs. I'm pleased with the final product considering it was my first heater box resto.
My basement is filling up with completed components. It was my wife's suggestion to use the room as my "staging area."
Finished the steering column this weekend.I used Rustoleum Textured Black paint to refinish it and I'm very happy with the appearance. I just have to add a zerk fitting to the steering coupler and it is on to the dash assembly!
