After moving them from corner to corner in my shop while doing a shop cleanup I finally brought myself to scrap my old W2 heads. I had sold the W2 Victor intake I ported years ago and my 2 1/2 sets of rockerarms. They flowed [email protected] stock and quickly dropped from turbulence so I did a semi quick port job on them getting them up over 300cfm and ran 9.80 on pump gas with one of Jim’s (Racer Brown) .520 cams with a 1.6 rocker on the intake side. I didn’t put a lot of time in them because of cracking issues I’ve read about several times. And after 2 years they leaked bad enough that after sitting in the pits it had a cylinder hydraulic’d and I had to tear it down. The short side on a W2 Head is so beautiful compared to and Edelbrock Head or copy. I swear they are 10 pounds heavier now than when I ran them. A few pictures but excuse a few rust marks from sitting on the floor

Looks like the exhaust cracked off or just under the seat into the bowl and then some.. Bummer.
Always like looking at w2 stuff.

Where did they leak from?

They started out leaking right by the W2 casting on the lower bolt holes. When it filled the one cylinder with water I didn’t bother checking it out as I had a set of Edelbrock heads ported ready to go on

Maybe TrickFlow will raise the port, widen the pinch, 225cc runner, 2.10 intake valve, and copy the W2 short side in their next small block head.

both heads failed? together?

Both heads cracked by the bottom row of bolts. One finally leaked into a cylinder. Others have had this issue with this Econo head casting so like I said I didn’t go crazy. I would have loved to have tried a 2.08 valve in them. My rockers were Cranes and Mopars. I bought a set of the race heads with Norris rockers but I sold them. I’m done with cast heads.

I have a virgin set of econo's. Do you still have the shafts?

Seems like a lot had issues.

810 econo,our, was a bit better.

Ya I bought them off a friend after I flow tested them for him. I got my 450.00 worth of fun out of them and learned s few things at the same time. I couldn’t believe how a Head could flow so good at .450 and drop so quickly but it was an easy fix.

“Got rid of”.....

Donated to good will?
Gave to a friend?
Added to the scrap pile?
Sold on craigslist?
