Finally paint

-
I got some more done on the car today but I forgot the pictures and the camera in the garage.

Thats right camera.

I still have a flip phone.

I am so old my cell phone doesn't even have buttons it has a dial. My camera is an Instamatic and my pictures have to be scanned in at the neighbors Todd.

I would get on the golf buggy and get the pictures but its out of gas and my wife used what was left in the can for the washing machine.

We are so redneck our window AC runs off a generator. OK, so it also runs the 1/4 hp gal Sears air compressor at the garage ( the garage is a tall pine).

Yesterday I had my wife plow 5 acres. Dave sat on one side of the field I sat on the other to make sure the rows were straight. She is OK for the first 50 passes after that she starts going off coarse. I am looking for a sulky for the tractor its costing me to much for shoes for her at the thrift shop. A good strong pair is costing me around $3. Planting season gets costly.

It won't be long and we'll be cutting and splitting fire wood together. We work as a team. I bring all the trees to her with the skid loader. She cuts them ,and splits them, and stacks the wood.

Your wife sounds lke you have her trained! We are mechanized, horses pull the plow. Small plow otherwise I would need 4 abreast!
I would take a pic of the garden, but have no idea about how with phone and she is weeding the garden right now, don't want to slow her down.
The yellow squash and zucchini, cucumbers are going nuts, A ton of tomatoes, got the first ones last week and sweet corn for the freezer. Eggplant, cantaloupe, watermelon before long! Crowder peas, green beans made from red beans, okra goes in this week ( I forgot it)
Firewood back in Missouri, only had a wood stove!! A chain saw, and 3 small dachsunds to help carry it in. Wait they never picked up a stick!
Not sure when she will have time to do the fig preserves, 2 trees, one is 30 ft across, and so tall birds are nervous to light in the top! The there has to be time to go get muscadines for you know,.. jelly.

Well for all of you that have been waiting for reply's on parts this is what I have been doing. I had to get the motor out of the shed I have got most of the front together except for the fenders and hood. I have to paint the trunk and the door sills then the motor and rear are going up in.

The harness was shot also I had to hunt here for one. I couldn't find a nice harness for 71 with fender indicators . This car has them so I will have to cut two apart and make a nice one.

I am adding a Floor shift and console. I think it will sell faster. The car will never be original anyway.

I am using up parts I have but I am keeping the best stuff for my other two cars. This car is to recoup some money for the other builds.

The Demon was just finished here. It got a new front clip ,

Many cars sat in the same place as this Duster and Demon. After a while it gets boring doing the same cars. Different colors are always neat to see. Daves Valiant is next after we make a body jig using that new body I have for 108 cars. . That rusted front clip on the 72 was fixed like new. The fast back had a flip front end that had to be completely replaced.

Got the Autozone master on, Painted the lower door sills. The color on the sills matched the original paint on the front of the jams perfect.

Most important ,its Dave helped get the tires down and its off the stands a day early. Tomorrow it goes on the lift and Steve and Dave will let it down on the motor. The next time this car comes back to this room it will be for paint. It doesn't look like it will make it to Carlisle?? Unless I get out the whip. LOL.

Dave I am counting on you to be here a 5:00 AM.

Well I screwed up. I have a pair of sneakers that don't match My dog ate the opposite of them.they don't tie tight anymore so you have to slide your feet so they don't fall off. I wear them at home to get some mileage out of them.

While carrying the large jack stands to put the rear on I tripped over these fuel lines and did a face plant into the concrete and jack stand. I fractured my right arm and my left thumb which just heeled, also bruised my knee cap and got a large cut on the top of my head. Yeah the garage cameras caught the whole thing. I'll show them when my son loads them.

The worst was my pride. There was a bunch of good looking girls here to visit my son. Looks like the car is on hold for a couple of days. I never knew a fracture could hurt this bad.

How did my son keep racing when he fractured his in a heat race? I can remember telling him when he came in. "It can't hurt that bad it looks straight to me" He raced the feature.

Well that sucks.Hope your ok otherwise. I guess I will have to break out the radio flyer to drag you around Carlisle..lol

Boy I wish I was younger and have what I own now . When I was 16 I had a tripod to pull motors and we would put a tarp on it to work in the rain and snow. Space heater for heat . The only air I had was a hand pump. I did have an electric impact that was like gold when I got it.

Life can be hard sometimes but it gives us understanding.

Like you, I have walked in the shadow of death.. I understand that God is real.

I hope you heal up soon. I’m 61, and trip over stuff pretty often myself. My vision isn’t what it used to be, so that’s mostly it for me. When I work under my lift, I bang my head on the bottom of the car and lift all the time. My head won’t get no uglier....but I don’t want to dent my lift with my hard head!

Oh dang man I hate to hear that. I hope you have a quick recovery. I hate to fall it hurts alot worse the older you get. I feel down the steps a couple years ago and I thought it was gonna kill me. Lol

I'm milking it now until Carlisle. The wife gets me everything. "Kathy get me coffee", Ok Steve
I might just keep falling I never had it so good. Feet up, TV on, and service with a smile. LOL

Rear brakes are on , Got a nice set of drums out and the calipers are done. Today cut the rotors and install the front brakes and wheels and under coat the car. I was doing little things like radiator support to K-member brace. snubber on rear. I put old lines on calipers just to put things together . Stainless replacements will be ordered. I used mine on the last car that was here for work.

I sold every rotor I had yesterday , I was made an offer I couldn't refuse. So there are no hubs or rotors left here to sell at this time.

All of the parts I am using are used parts except for hoses lines and shoes. I cleaned and saved everything over the years. Most of the parts are cleaned separated in parts cabinets. I am saving the nicest parts for my Demon. I am buying everything aftermarket for my other Duster.

The parts for my Orange Duster is getting expensive so I will have to sell the Brown Duster and the Demon to fund the rebuild of my very missed Duster . I tried to get this car ready for Carlisle . It wont make it so No reserve Mecum is my next Date. I have a potential buyer but no commitment was made.

One of the nicest bodies I have had. It was just missing everything and the aftermarket race parts were fastened where ever they fit. There are two holes in front of the rear shocks that have to be welded up yet. They had a 2x4 bolted to the the floor so the could fasten the electric pump with dry wall screws. Thank god they never finished this car.
