Finally Tired of Antics on Graveyard Cars

But that was off topic. Never could get thru a whole episode of Wormans' BS. Couldn't stand Boyd Coddintons' either. I would've told him to FO!
Just like I told Grant King I was quitting while he stupidly razzed me in front of some Drag Racing guy in town for the Nationals, as Raceway Park less than 3 miles down Crawfordsville Rd, and we'd see guys all week. I picked up my **** & left that moment.

So a larger volume of loss brings in more profit?
Well glad you chimed in I was running my small business wrong this whole time.
If you don't think that volume helps the bottom line you better take a long look at Walmart. I feel sorry for your customers you probably are rude to them too.

I just had a restoration guy come and give me a bid on repainting my 71 Demon. 40k. I appreciated all he looked over, but at the end of the day, it'll be a nice driver. Not a show car.
break that down by the numbers and it starts to make sense.

lets say 5K of that is materials, so you're at 35. that's only 350hr of work at 100/hr... or roughly two months of 40/hr weeks...

i'm not saying i'd pay that either, but when then numbers are laid bare it doesn't seem as outrageous.

I know how they operate. They are supposed to go by the flat rate manual but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't
i love how you state things you have absolutely no clue about.

"they" are not supposed to go by anything. not.one.thing.

the manufacturer will determine book time for specific tasks and that is *generally* what is charged. a flat rate manual is an industry standard used for typical repairs that can be applied across several different makes and models.

for instance you can generally say flat rate for front disc brakes is [x] on fwd cars; but you absolutely can't say oh a waterpump is [y] flat rate. if you worked like that the difference in time to do a waterpump on a corvair vs. a mustang would have mechanics going hungry.

Corvair is air cooled, nice try

Oh, I agree and his labor rate is only $80 per hour. Materials around 6k. Wallet says no and the car is actually very straight. It would be lazer straight if I had him do it. I just want a nice driver though.

Duane Mayer flashback. Was he really that bad or just acting? Hey Bluebear

oh man, that's a call back from the deep dark past of automotive shows!

i remember he was in a pretty bad accident about 10yrs ago or so. what's funny is he still looks exactly the same as he did back then!
