Hi all! My name is Rich and I recently bought my first Mopar A body for a winter project. It is a 1976 Plymouth Scamp with the 225 Slant 6. It was parked back in 2011 due to severe overheating issues (seller’s words). I’ve been making a restoration video blog on YouTube and Rumble of the process. https://youtube.com/@calicowilly

Welcome to FABO! I love my kind of Scamp (Valiant Brougham). I wish I had air con in mine. Yours looks like a good one to start with.
 
That looks past a flush. More like a strip and hot wash rebuild of the engine
Thats the plan. I just got the engine hoist and stand and have a buddy coming over tomorrow to help pull the engine. I'm going to get it stripped down and take it to a machine shop for washing and testing.
 
Hello again everyone! I posted the second episode of my restoration video blog yesterday and have already begun episode 3. I will be getting hot and heavy in the engine bay this week with pulling the motor, cleaning and painting the engine bay, and rebuilding the engine...Hopefully I can get all that done before Christmas!

I have never seen coolant look like that.

The consistency was very similar. It was reminiscent of the blue devil head gasket sealer if you are familiar with that. The previous owner said they probably used a “silver seal”. Not familiar with that but I’m guessing like the bars leak “copper seal”? Which doesn’t make sense because I didn’t see any metal flakes.
 
Looks like a nice solid foundation and starting point! Have fun getting her back up to form and street worthy again.

I'm hoping so too. I got the hoist and stand today for pulling the engine and transmission. Service manuals from 1976 are coming this week. While the engine and trans are out, I will be deep cleaning the engine bay and sending it off to a local body shop for an inspection.

If they make a pan to catch the drippings for your particualr engine stand, it might be worth getting. I always roll mine over cardboard, but wish I had a pan instead
I had the same thought…I’ve been looking locally at the parts stores but I think it will be something I’d have to order
