Have not had a flat in 18 years or so......had 2 in the past 10 days. A rock caused the one today, Discount found it imbedded in the tread still....
At least I had a spare....and remembered to put the cheap HF jack in the back of the truck a couple of weeks ago.funny . i woke up the other day to a flat on the duster. no spare the same size. now it has a metallic blue rim and bigger tire on one side in the back. sidewall is toast
This reminded me, I did have a flat on a bike in that 18 years. Just put a set of new tires on my GSXR 1000. I bought the road hazard warranty. First day I rode the bike to work, was cruising home, about 80 or so and it got real loose in the *** end. Grabbed a whole lot of front brake and came to a stop. Sure enough, it were flat. 5 cans of fix a flat to get about 15 miles, did not have a trailer at the time and it was 1 in the morning. Even with the road hazard warranty that tire cost me $85 or so. Tire had a total of 40 miles on it. A flat on a bike will get your attention....in a heart beat....I was talking about a flat I had on my bike on another site today. Someone had a thread asking about the worst ride you ever had. FLATS SUCK!! But being in the tire business, it is a double edged sword for me. LOL
Now for my worst ride. It was the best of rides, it was the worst of rides.
It started in 2010, we went to Bug A Paluza in Chattnooga, Tn. We rode up on Friday for two days of Bugs, fun in Chattanooga, and an all around good time. I should have known it would turn out bad when I lost my new Mopar ball cap on the way up.
The weather was AWESOME!! We had a great ride up, the Bugs were plentiful, and Chattanooga was fun as usual.
We spent 2 great days there and then on Sunday we left and headed southeast across north Georgia for Winder, Georgia where my car club-North Georgia Mopar Club- was having a picnic.
We made the picnic and had a great time. My in laws even met us there. One of our members was having an open house at his restoration shop just a couple of miles away so we went down for a visit. A good time was had there too.
As we went to leave his shop, all hell broke loose. I went to take off and felt like I was in a hole. FLAT TIRE. Sunday afternoon and 60 miles from home.
Very long story short, I had to drive 60 miles home, get the trailer, drive 60 miles back to get the bike, and then drive 60 miles back home. :bang; :bang;
I have insurance that would cover a tow to the nearest dealer but they arent open on Sunday or Monday so where would they leave my bike? No thanks.
The only time a bike should be on a trailer.
Woa Rani, a gixxer 1000! That's a screamin bike. With your 85 lbs I envision you holding onto the handlebars with the rest of you flapping in the breeze...lol kinda like this...
Damn........I cannot stop laughing.....Sorry.....I had 2 flats in one day once, plus another one about 2 days later. All on the same truck, all on the same side (Left Front).
The first one, my tire must have picked up a nail. And it just happened to go flat after the "pre-towing" check, when I was pulling up the driveway, with the trailer and a van on the back.
Put the Spare on, made it a mile down the road and it started thumping, pulled over, flat (had the proper air pressure before I left). By that point I was pissed off, I took the wheel back to the shop and found a tire (the only one I had left), mounted it to the wheel and took the wheel & tire back to my truck.
About 2 days after that, I decided I was going to go to Sheetz and get something to eat (mind you it's 2am, pouring down rain). I make it halfway to town and I'm cruising along at 45mph... BOOM
The next day I was still pissed off. I walked into the garage, grabbed a can of starting fluid/ether off the shelf and my friend was there and he says to me. "What are you doing man?" I held up the can of starting fluid as I walked away. "Going to fix my truck..." My friend, my dad and my grandfather all came running out of the garage to stop me when they heard the old diesel on the Bulldozer fire up.
Damn........I cannot stop laughing.....Sorry.....
YesBecause of how I was going to fix the truck? Or that no man should have luck that crappy? Or that the tire went off like an M80 in a toilet?
i prolly would ....but i dont have a bike ???[/QUOTE]
