Is it ok to use a lathe? My buddy has a lathe and said he'd turn it for me. Would the surface be to slick of will it be fine? Thanks ozz

My experience has been poor. The high abuse they take generates "hard spots" which are sort of like stones and rocks in concrete. You turn them, and the thing flexes and distorts and the hard spots then "come up" above the surrounding softer metal. You just about need to grind them.

Yep.

Do Not Have It Machined On A Lathe !!

Only surface grind,,,,,,Make sure the Machine Shop has a
Winona, or DCM, or Peterson Flywheel Grinder.

$35.00 should be a fair price.

Also, make sure you use a 'Flat File' on the Crankshaft mounting side of the Flywheel,
to remove any 'high spots' on the back-face area.
