Ford 8.8" in a '64 Dart Conv...

Hi Everyone! I'm putting a rebuilt Ford 8.8" (3.08 posi) into my' 64 Dart Convertible as part of the restomod and have a couple of questions:
- Do I need to move the upper shock towers? It took a tremendous amount of pushing and prying to get the shocks back on and I'm afraid they will not work properly at this angle (see pic)... What is the stock shock angle?

You have the shock plates mounted incorrectly. The shock studs should be pointed aft, not crossways.

Correct. If you mount the plates so the shock studs point to the rear, you will find they will bolt up correctly.

It looks like you should be able to use stock Mopar shock plates instead of those custom ones. That'll solve everything.

Hi Gina, OP. Is this 8.8 from a Ford Explorer? Did you shorten the axle?

This is. I picked it up from someone who already shortened the axle.Had it gone thru professionally before putting it in.
