Hello everyone,
My 69 dart came with a fud 9" rear when I bought it. The previous owners work was complete butchery. My questions are what is proper way to change to a 9" so I can go behind this guy and correct any shortcuts he might have done. Also should I even keep the 9", it has some pinion bearing noise and growls slightly at coast, so before I tear into it, I want to decide if I even want to keep it. thanks.

Those sounds do not sound good. The best way to replace it is a simple pile of (New where posible) stock parts.
A body rear ends are plentyful in the 8-1/4 size, alittle hard and expensive with the 8-3/4 unit and you can purchase a new DANA from DTS or Strange.
Springs and acc. hardware can come from MoPar or springs and things (espo.com)
Just make sure of the bolt pattern size. Theres the small 5 on 4 and the larger 5 on 4-1/2 which is much more popular in aftermarket rims.

To offset the cost, sell the ford to a restorer (?) or racer/hot rodder. It'll go!!
