found the problem in my 7 1/4

i dug into her last night and this is what i found:

I figured it was already broken so i took both of them and put them together like they would be in the diff and welded both together. Should hold alot better than on their own and everything went together fine. Only time will tell if it will hold for good. I forgot to take a pic of it after i welded it but you guys probably know what i am talking about, I'm sure i'm not the first to do this. :D is this what usually happends to them?

these are the pins that hold the spider gears in the s/g diff. my car has four spider gears that link the two axles to each other and to the power. By welding the two together it puts the strain on all four rather than two if they are worn a bit more and makes the centers alot stronger because they are so thin. Does that make sense? just asking cuz it does to me but then i did all the work :D
