Started on it after driving it for 5 years and getting to know the old gal.
I am a body man but in a production shop and trying to slow down and do the best I can is real hard. So now mostly retired and not doing body work all week I started on my first car for me and what fun it has been being able to sit on a chair and have a beer and think about what's next.
I plan on driving the car so didn't ever plan on it being lazier straight just look presentable and not cry to hard when it gets a scratch or ding.

Will skip a few pic's All was striped to metal on the exterior and epoxy primed with DP40LF and primer is Deltron DPS3055.

The cowl vent was a sure pain to strip my fingers are still sore. lol
 
I'm diggin everything about this so far-I have a 72 in need of much work but it's gonna have to wait until I assemble my other project car (84 Mustang GT) in my shop to make room for all the stuff that'll come out.
 
I striped the trunk all most all anyway. I used POR-15 and as some people don't use the metal prep that POR-15 has before coating the paint on, I did. Then etched primed and used Raptor Bed liner on the trunk and inside and under side of the car. I didn't have a rotisserie and decided to lay on my back to do the under side. Not really the best but the under side was in great shape and had plenty of under coating on so minimal rust. Did I do it the right way ???? just doing what I think is good enough.

Thanks still trying to get more pic's but I am a little slow at this.
84 Mustang sounds like a great project hope it's going well.

QA1 complete front suspension. Running 4:10 in the rear and a 904 with a Gear Vendor overdrive. New engine on the way 360 stroked to 408 from BluePrint engines about 465 HP will be a turn key engine. I still don't really know what I have money wise in this build but more than I will ever get out of it.
I think just the fun I'm having is worth more than anything.

Loaded and off to the shop I work at for block and prime and paint. I will be doing everything myself and kind of scared I haven't painted anything this big in many years because I get sick when painting for to long.

Painted and loaded up and back home. The paint booth had lots of lights burned out so was hard to see and I got sick on the last coat of clear and ended up over the toilet a few times before I finished. so the next day was sanding my *** off and buffing.
 
And yes the exhaust fan worked good and yes I had a mask on just can't handle paint any more. Been painting since I was a little kid in my dads shop.

Cleaned the tank then the normal rust on the top. POR-15, epoxy prime and base clear.

X2 When I quit painting for a living it took me 6 months to feel like a normal human being.
Just the smell of it makes me sick sometimes.
I remember spraying the engine compartment on my duster, I was very ill the next day from the paint buzz, my mask was leaking. New mask ordered the next day.

So that's today August 18th 2019 so things will slow down at this point. Is it done right so far? I can only say I been trying to do it somewhat right. Some will do far better some far worse. I would guess I am in the middle of half assed. lol

I here you sireland67 my mask was so tight no leaks but just gets in the skin I think.

It does get absorbed in your skin over time, I always painted fully covered, but my face exposed.
My current employer, (aircraft) the painters are in fresh air suites, so no chemicals touch their bodys.
Breathing fresh air, and the suites also have ac pumped into it. It must be a luxury or a huge pain for the painters with the heavy paint suites they wear.
Think NASA astronaut

Yea I would guess with the suit and fresh air that would make a big difference but as you well know we on a budget do what we can.
I'm Gonna be painting my sons plane here soon I think any suggestions on paint to use.
