I have replaced my thermal temp gun with a new one because the old one won't shut down unless you take the battery out. Other than that it works fine. I'd like to donate it to a young gun just getting started wrenching. It's accurate, just the glitch where you need to remove the battery after each use or it'll run the battery dead.

I also have an old Brown and Sharpe 0-1" micrometer that's a little worse for the wear, nevertheless it sure beats none. Same deal, I'd like it to go to a young gun just getting started.

All I ask is you pay the shipping cost which I think will be approx. $6 anywhere in the US for each item via USPS small flat rate box.

PM me please. First qualified person to PM me gets the tool of choice or both. Whatever they need.

Very nice gesture Tracy. It'll be nice to see them go to a deserving up and comer. :thumleft:

You find the right candidate and I will pay shipping to help them out. Just pm me and I will send it to you PayPal if you take it. Good gesture on your part.

Great gesture! :-D Tracy, the same thing happened to my temp gun and it kept killing 9v batteries. It was easy to take it apart, drill a little hole in the side and install a toggle switch. I can get a few pics for your chosen Young Gun if needed.

FABO members make me proud.

This is awesome Tracy! I'm 22 but would like to pass this opportunity along to those a bit younger than me...as I continue my education by getting my MBA next year (I've been accepted to the Northern Arizona University MBA) the Duster continues hibernation and I won't be able to put these great tools to use for another few years at earliest. Find sombody young, deserving, and who will put these pre-loved tools to good use:) Thanks for being a great member of FABO Tracy, -Dan

a school donation with a engine or car building class may be the best so it gets a lot of kids hands on the battery issue may be a problem tho just a thought

Thanks everyone. When I was just starting out I had several older mechanics give me hand me downs like this and it really helped since I didn't have a lot of money. Figured I'd pass it along to the next generation.

I hear ya on the getting old Pete, LOL

Leanna- I thought about putting a small switch in it and tried to take it apart to put a small switch in it before I bought a new one but for the life of me I couldn't get it apart. They either glued the darn thing together or I'm completely blind and can't see what's holding it. Has one screw that I see but even taking it out and prying on it with all my might I couldn't get it to come apart. Figured rather than ruin it I'd just give it away.

DuBob- I'll let you know if someone says they want them. Thanks a bunch

Winston- Unfortunately I don't have a school that teaches auto mechanics within 40 miles of me and since the temp gun isn't in correct working order I thought it would be best to just pass them along to an individual.

I've got several extra wrenches and sockets sitting around. Not the best looking ,some rust, most not big name. I'm in for a donation to a good home.
PS,I pick up the ride in lower 48.

Think back, someone gave almost all of us a helping hand at one time or an other!

This is starting to look like a revision of my earlier Young Guns Contest without the stories. You guys are great!!! :-D

I could definitely use the wrenches, SAE or metric either way!

Way to go Mike!

I was going to say hey I am a young gun but then I realized not so much anymore. I am just getting started doing mechanical as apposed to body/restoration. Lots of different tools needed!

Reading this reminds me that I some older sockets and prob some wrenches floating around that I don't need. I will try to get through them and post a list if someone needs something.

I vote 74DartSwinger360 if he needs them .. I would jump in on this but cliff helped me out when he cleaned his tool box out so i dont need but afew sockets lol

Ok. You might mention this thread to him and see if he needs them. I've seen him post a lot but didn't realize he was a young gun.

Ok here's what I've found so far, for a young or not so young gun, or just someone needy. You just pay shipping. Some are new, some rusty, craftsman, s-k, husky. A couple taiwan/no marking but seem to feel pretty good quality.
SOCKETS
3/8 drive..unless noted..
3 ea 3/8..2 ea 3/8 deep
5 ea 7/16...1 ea 7/16 deep...1 ea 7/16 1/4 drive
5 ea 1/2..1ea 1/2 deep..1 ea 1/2 1/4 drive
4 ea 9/16
1 ea 5/8
3 ea 5/8 spark plug
1 ea 11/16..2 ea 11/16 deep
1 ea 3/4..1/2 drive
1 ea 7/8..1/2 drive
1 ea 15/16..1/2 drive
Wrenches....small ones are craftsman or another brand marked usa. Some of the larger ones marked drop forged.
SMALL ONES
5/32-7/16 open/box set (7pc set)
2 ea 9/32-5/16
1 ea 7/32-15/64
1 ea 15/64-1/4
Larger set

A pair of channel locks.

The small wrench set I'd like to give away as a set. I've got some metrics I'll post up when I get a chance.
