Hey, I'm installing my new fuel tank and I can not get the filler tube past the new grommet in the tank. I've been trying for a couple of hours. Any advice?
I lubed the grommet and tube well , also polished tube . Couldn't get mine in either. Car was parked close to a wall, so I took a small bottle jack on its side along with a 2x4, placed a flat 1x block against fill side. Jacked s-l-o-w-l-y and it slid right in. My 200 pound body couldn't do it before that and I had tried for a couple of hours.

Kick wife out of house for an hour or two if applicable...
Bake tube and grommet in the oven at 150° F for about 30-45 mionutes
Let cool and then try to install grommet in tank, then tube in tank still out of vehicle to make sure they will fit together. If not bake some more until the rubber "relaxes" some more and you can fit them together outside the car.
Then install them in the car once you know that they will fit together...
