That looks like Arizona landscape. The wife and I considered a move there from California. The desert landscape is just too barren for me.

we went on vacation there a few years ago, during a heatwave
it was 90 by 9am, topped out past 120
i swear, 120 degrees in arizona feels like 80 in michigan

Fewer mosquitos too.
We went to Prescot AZ once. It is about 80 miles or so north of Phoenix. It was high enough in elevation that it was considerably cooler than Phoenix. It was a beautiful area.
