Pattern looks much better,. .007 backlash should work out fine ,. Ready to run! ; LonJust sayin how I and another old school racer set them up. He was doin it 30 years before me. He set them up to zero, no run in whatsoever and went racin. He never had an issue. This was in a 76 Super Pro Chevy Monza. Before the Chevy jokes, it was 440 powered with a Dana 60. Before that car, he had a 68 Camaro with a 426 Hemi. He's about 80 now and still races.
Not knocking anybody's way of doing it but this is how I've always felt about it too. I look at it the same way I do engine bearings0 backlash = 0 oil in there, metal to metal is not good. everything likes a layer of lube
