Well after months of consideration I have decided to Keep the /6 in the hotrod project. Its a 225 cubic inch / , i really see no reason i can't coax a horse an inch or more out of it. I will be shaving the head .090 going with oversized valves, stock 340 springs, headers and a four barrell. And after some time looking for a decent cam all a can seem to find in this frozen tundra is comp cams 264s does anyone know of anything better or something i am no doubt forgetting about. I am also in desperate need of some sheetmetal, front floor pans, trunk floor and quarter panel patches both sides . PLEASE HELP

I think the Erson cam group buy is still happening at slantsix.org. All kinds of grinds to choose from

Before you arbitrarily grind off 0.90, you may want to consider what cam you want, determine what CR you need for it, and measure how much you need to take off.

here is a post with more explanation

If you plan on running a 4-barrel, headers (or Dutra Duals), it would help a lot if your head could breath a little better than it does now with a little porting.

Laysons should have the patch panels you're looking for, they have a pretty well organized online catalog to look thru.

If you can't find the patch panels you're looking for, you'll probably have to fabricate patches. If so, hit me up and I can help you out with some easy tips on metalworking.

It's pretty much as simple as: Work the metal, don't let the metal work you.

WOW Layson's theres a name I hadent heard in a while.

AS for your slant there are a lot of Choice if you look in the right places. As for HP with a slant consider your goals carefully as you can throw alot of money down the drain and get nowhere( Conversely you can spend wisely and get a REAL sleeper)
Slant six.org is the easyest way to find something out. However dont think that its the ONLY place.
As for the Erson cams buy...its still on and they are ALL I use.

I think the trail of carrnage is 1000 miles long. I know personally 100 people that have been screwed in some way by Dave Layson.
Charrlie is one of them.

Most of the stuff Laysons has can be bought elseware for less money. They do, however, have some things that are not available from others. My biggest problem with Laysons is they flat out lied (Dave Layson, himself)to me about one of their products. It was not as stated, and I had to threaten to file charges for fraud, before getting a refund. Also they now have criminal charges pending (don't think it has been resolved) based on a arrest at they "Chryslers at Carlisle" event in 2008. Do a search on this site for more info.

WOW.

Glad I found out now instead of after buying something from them. I was looking at buying about $2500 in parts from them this weekend.

Glad I didn't!

Maybe the guy running it now ISN,T the crook that they have in jail now??I think Rick is trying to re-build their reputation?Other members here have purchased from them recently and had no problems?Maybe put up a thread asking members? They do have alot of rare stuff!

WOW i realy am gratefull for all the help and advice guys. I am looking into some cam options this weekend, A friend tells me Layson's do have quarter panels skins, i might look into

My advice: Do your homework, see who offers the parts you need. If other then Laysons, go there. If what you need is only available from Layson's, contact them by e-mail (paper trail), and tell them EXACtLY what you want/expect. Get e-mail confirmation of the transaction, including shipping date/price/item part number/description. Pay by credit card. If there are any problems, you can dispute the charges with the credit card company. This gives you leverage, if the seller gives you a hard time about correcting the problem.

I don't think anyone is in jail. As for "Rick", he is just an employee. Dave Layson still has the final say-so on anything, no mater what Rick says, and I don't trust Dave.

That is my dollars worth
