How about SP2P? Will one of those work on 273 heads?

Only for the '66+ heads. The intake bolts don't match on the earlier heads. For some crazy reason Mopar changed things, and after a short 2 year stint on one design, decided to "improve" it. The '64-'65 273 heads had different intake bolt patterns. Incidentally, the '66+ is what was used on all LA 318, 340, and 360 engines.

With the small intake ports of the 302 318 heads you want to use, the Edelbrock SP2P intake is an excellent choice. At least the port sizes match.

Yeah, the 273 doesn't have the stroke and bore of a thoroughbred so I am aiming for improvements in air speed and velocity. Honestly, it's going to stay the way it is for a long time. I figure it will take me a long time to find a pair of 302's and an SP2P. I used to have both of those but you know how when you finally decide to sell a part you are going to want it back.

the heads that are on the early 273 will serve you well. The D4b although somewhat rare is an obtainable intake. There were also several of them at the last Indy swap as I bought one of them as well. Probably around 5 of them there at the last meet. I will send you a pm for the good heads that come stock on the early 273.

Questions of the day:
I have a set of 73+ lower case control arms with sway bar tabs. Are early/late LCA’s are interchangeable? I vaguely remember reading the sway bar tab is different.

I'm too old to know the interchange year for the LCA but I do have a factory 1965 Barracuda sway bar, brackets and bushings in the garage.

go-fish, I know the feeling. On my move out of South Florida, four years I had to lose some weight. I threw out a set of 65' 273 4-bbl heads, but did keep the 4-bbl manifold.

In 1973 they moved the sway bar tabs inboard. As a result the sway bar is shorter.

edit: Pic of the '72 and older LCA, probably from ebay:

I knew about the year change but didn't know if it was different enough that longer links couldn't be used.

Just to clarify, the LCA is the same except for location of sway bar mounting tab?

I feel like I've been Mopar Pickin' today, online. I set up a deal with @halifaxhops to get a dual point distributor and dwell meter and, also, got a PM from a member who agreed to sell me an Edelbrock D4B intake.
Further engine plans are the Commando grind and Egge 10.5 pistons. Possibly Ford intake valves that are oversized, performance valve job, banana grooves and refurbished adj. rockers by RAS. That isn't going to happen for awhile but I'll keep collecting parts toward that goal. I have most of the parts for this now and I have all the parts for a LBP swap and manual disc upgrade.
What I really need is to get the 30x40 shop up!

Yup. Details like bushing styles may vary but it's essentially the same part. I tried the older longer sway bar with a pair of newer LCAs and they were way off.
