Hi...This is hard to do, but I finally need to face reality.

Last night when I was forced to drive after dark, again, I was finaly convinced that I shouldn't restore my Valiant. I no longer have any night vision, and I am concerned about the amount of time (daylight hours outside of work) that I would have to enjoy my car. On top of that, I already have way too many other cars (many of which I have decided to sell also) to get much out of another car. This is hard to do becasuse I had the cash together and the desire (I mean I've REALLY wanted to do this for years) to make the Valiant into a 360 car.

I appreciate you listening to me feeling sorry for myself, but the upshot of this is that I guess I need to sell the Valiant, and I figured this is the place where whoever buys it would truly appreciate it. I know this should be in the for sale forum, but I am trying to get a feel for whether or not anyone is interested in the car.

I currently have no pictures of it. I can go out to where it is stored ofver the weekend and remedy that, however. It is a slant six, column shift '66 Signet 2 door hardtop with bucket seats. The radiator leaks and the tranny is going soft, so obviously it will not be expensive. Also there is a rust hole (about a fifty cent piece size) in the lower passenger side quarter (below the trim line). That is the only rust that I know of.

I live north of Seattle, WA. If anyone is interested in the car, any of my old Magnums, my Mirada or assorted parts you can pm me. I don't even know what to ask for any of the cars. All I know is that I can't give them the care they need, and no longer really have the ability to enjoy them the way I want to.

Hopefully you'll keep at least one just to tinker on now and then...that is enjoyment as well.
 
I'll definitely be keeping my '70 Charger. I've said many a time that when I have lost everything I will live in that car until it rusts away from around me.

The '66 Valiant goes, and all of the parts I'd been collecting for the swap. All of the Magnums go. The T-Top Mirada goes. The '66 Charger may go too...that will be a tough one. All of the Magnum and Cordoba parts I've collected will go. I've got a bunch of miscellaneous parts to go too. This is going to be a big change for me...it's been at least 20 years since I've had three or fewer cars. Anyways, I can get pictures of anything people are interested in, I just don't want to try shipping any of the big stuff.

It's all kind of a downer for me...I've been trying to ignore the truth for a couple of years now, but I just can't do it anymore...

I don't know what your age is but have you tried taking vitamin A to help with your night vision? If this is a physical problem that cannot be reversed, that sucks. If it is just a matter of not seeing well at night, vitamin A helps with the production of visible purple which helps you see at night. Hate to see people have to give up things they enjoy.
 
Im really sorry to hear that Steve! Bottom line is we all have to do what is right for us and health and safety come first. Sure hope you are going to stick around here. Has to be a tough call and I wish the best!!!

Unfortunately i have retinal scarring. This effects my peripheral vision which is key to seeing in low light. The specialist said that there is nothing that can be done about it. The only thing he could think of that might possibly help was taking Bilberry, but that either didn't help at all or didn't help much.

Sorry to hear about that it is a really tough break. Even though you are selling your car (s), I hope you will stay on the forums and join in the discussions. Keep us all updated on what how you are doing.
 
Hey don't they make a High intensity light kit for our oldmopars......That way it will look like day light....Just a thought
 
Sorry to hear about your poor night vision Steve....
One thing to think of though is there is a lot of daylight hours on the weekends.
I wish you the best of luck no matter what happens.

I'm glad to hear you still want your Charger - that's a postive sign. I also think it's a good idea simplify the amount of projects you have. I to have had too many projects and I found that when I concentrated on just one then I enjoyed my hobby more.

My sympathy goes out to you. I was recently told that I have the early stages of macular degeneration. No cure -just delay it some - just go blind.

I will never give up my love of old MoPars! I've been in denial about my condition too long. I don't want to hurt anybody else (or myself). I definitely don't want to damage anyone elses car, especially if it is something they have put their heart and sole into. Living as far north as I do, even though the days are longer in the summer, they aren't even long enough to drive back and forth to work in the daylight. My wife and I have talked about relocating, so maybe that will help. I just feel like I was trappped in the house for about four months. I will continue to be on the website and hope to see some of you at the shows in the northwest!
