-
Took Some Kids for ice cream.
"gasp" ... was the only '62 valiant at the ice cream shop that day.

Found out that there was mud in the coolant system - Flushing the block properly and getting the Radiator "rodded out". The Alignment is horrible as well. Tinkered with an angle finder and a tape measure to put a skosh of - camber and 1/16" toe in so I can drive it a but before wearing the front tires to the cords.

Maybe I'm a biased old man, but If I saw your car parked next to an LS6 Chevelle convertible, I'd walk to your car. It looks a bunch like a Studebaker grill, but still so unique.

Thank you Sir.
Chevelles and the Like are Cool and all, just not my cup of tea. WHen I go to Places or shows I am the only guy with that car there pretty much all of the time… THat’s how I roll.

Last week at the Father’s Day Show down the Street from the house…. Took Ruster and the ‘62 Wagon.

Hauled all of my family in style.

Safe to Say I had the only ‘68 11 Second Garbage Valiant Drag car there as well as the only ‘62 Valiant wagon.

"In your next life" you might be an old hound dog that gets to hang his out out the window of his master's 62 Valiant wagon. lol

We had a beautiful stretch of fall weather over the last few days,

Took the Wagon to a local Car show on Friday Night, went to dinner with the family and inlaws.
Saturday morning loaded the bike in the back of the wagon to go to the local bike trail.
Got 18 or so miles on the trail before going to the garage for car stuff.

I had 2 new Heater Cores Made, one for this car, and One as a spare, as it was from a parts Car that I turned into a Trailer.

I am contemplating Replacing the OE Robertshaw Heater Valve with a Newer, Readily available Modern Unit, and I can Keep the Robertshaw as a spare, or get it rebuilt later when budget$ allow.

Getting heat into this vehicle will be nice for the fall season.

I got the Heater Box all buttoned up - I elected for the non OE Heater Valve, and I Had to fabricobble some various bits and adapters to use the new valve as it's a mix of 5/8" and 1/2" Heater connections. I just need to attach the box back to the firewall and connect the heater hoses as well as the control cable for the heater valve.

Took the Old Rotors to the parts store to be turned - Will pick them up this week and Blast the centers and detail / paint those too.

Calipers are still soaking in Molasses. Have yet to break the bleeder screws free... Might hafta weld something on them or drill 'em out or borrow a hot torch Mapp Gas was not enough... we'll see.

Hawt! The whole car, I mean, and all its parts and upgrades.
Thanks Uncle Dan. It's not all sorted yet, but getting there. I should be able to pick up the rusty, crusty rotors today after work.

Too Cold to Run the Sandblaster - It's Good to about maybe 20 Degrees ambient temp then it starts to freeze up.. It's a bout 0 Degrees ambient in the garage now. I got the Races installed in the hubs, the Rotors back from the Parts store.. They were cut, just need blasted and painted. I Helicoiled 2 Broken pad clip holes, freed the Frozen Bleeder screws without damaging them or having to drill anything out. Working on detailing the Cailpers before honing and rebuilding with new square seals, pistons and dust boots.

Spindles are all done except I order the wrong Ball Joints for '73 up spindles... oops.
I am sure I will use them on a Volare Spindle Conversion in the future.

Looks like These KH Calipers had the Red paint on them from the factory?? Who Knows They seem old and original.

Assembled some Calipers and a Master Cylinder.
Paint and Masking Scheme turned out Great.
Used a Bit of hydraulic brake assembly fluid on the parts - I used to get little red vials of that stuff in the old NAPA Wheel cylinder kits - Now I got a whole bottle of it -should be good until I die with that bottle.

1/2/23:

Happy new year!
I resolve to keep working on my cars and make the factory brakes on this one respectable!

The other Lower Ball Joint arrived in the mail a few days ago.
I found that they are Drilled for a 1/2" Bolt, however my spindles use a 9/16" Bolt so I drilled them out for the 9/16" bolt size.

Since I will pretty much have the front end of the car apart, I figured I would replace all the Joints and Bushings while I was under there, So I pulled extra Stuff from my parts Pile, and I will Clean, paint, and install these parts to have the car apart for a shorter period of time.
Still need to Order Rod ends, Bushings and Upper Ball Joints, But Some Parts are getting painted now, and others are being blasted and old bushings pressed out.
