I removed the vertical trim pieces and now need to reinstall. Can you do this using the old seal strips or are new ones usually required? When installing new do you push it into the trim and then push the trim onto the glass or visa versa? I hear soapy water helps. Thanks

I havent done mine yet, but I read that you put the seal tape on the glass first, then press your trim over top of it, tapping gently if need be, cut off any excess that may be sticking out when done.

I see National Moparts sells the 1/16" tape by the foot....probably from DMT as they carry their stuff. I just see it by the roll on Amazon.

I cleaned the quarter trim channel and measured it. It is only 0.035" wider than the glass which is a little more than 0.015" gap per side. Even the 0.045" wide strip that DMT has seems thick. Anyone done this before?

Im pretty sure I remember a thread where @dadsbee was talking about it; it is supposed to be fairly tight fit, you 'll need a rubber mallet to install it

Yes the videos and instructions call for that. The issue I am having is what thickness of sealing strip. One piece looks like it has a very thin strip and the other looks like it has thicker 1/16 sealing strip. The stuff is not easy to get or cheap otherwise I would just buy both. Its over $100/roll if you buy it like that.

I was looking into this not too long ago myself, I came to the conclusion that DMT has the correct thickness of tape, which is what National Moparts sells. And I agree, its not overly cheap.

Yes I did in another thread on door sliders and the such, that the OP didn't care to even acknowledge the time it too me to dig up the threads. Here we go one more time...
Left door.. follow it for two pages or so.

Broke my 7UP Pop Machine today....(Superbird Restoration)

Right door... again two pages.

Much thanks for this, Ill be doing mine in the near future as well, so its good to have this information.

I’ll check but most of them don’t sell supplies. Did you use the 0.045”/ 3/64”exclusively?
If you go though my thread links, you'll see that I used my roll of 0.060 because it's what I have. I also have some 0.030 rolls that are too thin... at least on anything I've put together in the past 8 years.

As for not selling supplies, I would think if you called up the local glass shops and asked if they used glass setting tape on deco trim mirrors and such that it wouldn't be a big deal selling your 4 feet !

Maybe I skimmed too fast. You said something about using .045 and not 0.060.

I’m hoping the local shops will sell by the foot. I expect most couldn’t be bothered. There is a supply shop but they only sell by the roll at $115.

Ps my 84 year old mother fell again today so I’m running around to appointments with her instead
