done!!! car has paint!!
just got the candy red on the dart.

unfortunatly the clear went on a little ruff with some textured but it already started to flatten out just over night and i think some color sanding should bring it flat and glossy!!!! woohooo!
illl get picks soon

yay!!!
My parts came back today from cudachick/ pheonixspecialtycoatings !!!!!!
I cant belive the amazing work they did on my parts.
Powdercoating was not even in mind at first when i started the rebuild but now that they are going to be the nicest thing on the car i wont be building another car without there work!!!
Came out better then i ever expected, and there fast work on my time sensitive re-build was more then helpful and there packing in shipping was great and even had a hint of humor.

Special thanks to phoenix specialty coatings and all the great work!!!

I'm delighted to see you're happy! For the pic hounds ......

As far as the humor goes, I guess you're talking about my present? You see, I was in the middle of wrapping and packing up all your finished parts when I discovered your air cleaner hold down ......... unknown, unprepped and laying in the bottom of the box. I felt like a dillhole for missing it the first time and holding up your progress for another day. After seeing all those natural features it had, I really went "all out" (excuse the pun) and dolled it up for ya. Figured it would tie your air cleaner and valve covers together nicely and give it some more pop.

You are very welcome kiddo ... now go out there, kick some butt and get my stickers on TV. :-D :-D :-D

:cheers:yah well i have another thread going about my paint on the car...
it went on ok except the clear haha. went on like carpet... every worst case scenareo, too hott, too fast drying activator, wrong tip, and the guys at the paint store told me the wrong mixture and forgot to tell me about the thinner.... so i had to block down and re-shoot. car got its re-clear today and all is looking better! cant belive i saved the paint job more or less. so tomoro we will assemble the motor and drop it back in and start hooking everythin up, picks will be up soon of new paint, new motor, new parts.

ok ok ill show some pictures...
I rolled it out into the driveway to get some sun so pics are limited lighting and angles haha but ill get some better ones later, for now here we go.

Got the car fired off today!
Body is getting back together . now just little heres and theres bumper, grill and such, but everything fired up and ran good.

ok well cars back together... now motor runs.. but now held up by brakes...
i ordered my wheel studs for my disc brakes and should have got them today so now i have to get them tommoro and try to install without a hitch... then i need to find out if on pinks you need mufflers because if so i need to do that tomooro toooo!!!! anyone know?

I don't have a clue but assume (since you're in California) that you'll probably need mufflers on a street car. Then again, you know what they say about A-S-S-U-M-E LOL

I hope everything continues to go together without a hitch and all your hard work pays off!!! We're all pullin for ya Corbin!

ok everyone its 12:30 am now and i just got rolled up
Car is ready as it can be,,, and it fires up, did my driveway allignement job tonight about 10pm and got all the small stuff squared away and did my disc brake change and wheel stud change/upgrade. so this morning i will get my car on the street and drive around the block a few times open headers and roll it on to the trailor to bakersfield so we'll see.
:snakeman:

TO BE CONTINUED.....

During a Pinks All Out rerun last night, there was a note they still have tickets available for Bakersfield this weekend. Wish I was close enough to snag one and come cheer you on in person.

I'm so excited for ya!!! Your updates have made me feel like I was in the driveway ... I'm ready for the one when you tell us you brought home ten grand now.

Kick *** Corbin!

is over...
Hahaha very fun trip. awsome weekend and vendors and cars.
The car unfortunalty didnt get dialed in on time so it had alot left to do.
But it went out there and i made 4 passes 1 on rich's "arm drop" haha kinda fun actually. But when i went out some of my old fuel i left in the car had some junk in it and during my 1st burnout before i made a pass it sucked something up and killed the car mid burnout. then my shifter linkege never got adjested and i went from 1st to 3rd when i made my pass actually twice. and other then that timing, carb and everything else never was able to get dialed in so we just ran it as is and we were hitting 13 flat all day.
So after all the hard work i made my car slower hahaa:cheers:
So back to the drawing board and we what happens. ill get some pictures and stuff up of the car and the trip, awasome show even though the "show" and production kidna slow everything down and then give drivers less time to be ready. they dont understand you cant make someone sit in the pits for an hour and then give them 10 seconds to get back in there car and get there helmet and gear on and make a pass haha.

Well Corbin, I for one couldn't be more proud of you. Even though the results aren't what you hoped for or expected, you did what you set out to do -- get the car ready, get there, and get the beast down the track for Pinks All Out!

The pics are phenomenal ... too cool!!!

It was an honor to be involved and I'll be happy to do it all over again next time. Thanks for letting PSC ride along with ya! :love7:

yes, it was a fantastic mission to get a car painted (twice due to clear)
and motor powdercoated and put back together and back in and car tuned /brake job/interior and everything else involved and running in 3 weeks more or less and got out to pinks and made some passes and even an armdrop haha,
very great experience and special thanks to
Phoenix specialty coatings for helping me get out there in style in a professional & amazingly timeley matter.
Jalopy Joes Speed Shop Ventura Clothing and speed equiptment
Freds Tire Man Oak View Last minute tire changes and lug nuts.
Interstate batteries Ventura Last minute battery needed to start the car haha

Thanks to everyone on the board with support...hints..tips throughout the project and hopefully this goes to show everyone that how much you want it is far more important then how much money you make or what you have.
Thanks everyone once again and I hope to be able to return the favor.

Glad to hear that despite all the challenges, that you had a great experience from start to finish. I know that you learned alot along the way and best of all you'll have great memories of it for years to come. Kev
