Hey All:

Looking to convert a 400 to 4 bbl. I'm sure a stock 4bbl intake would do the trick, but I think I'd rather lift aluminum. Far as I know, motor is stock other than exhaust. Not looking to do any other mods at this time.

Any other gotchas converting to 4bbl?

Thanks!

Steve

I did it on my 400 in my Magnum. It is a low comp 1978 mill.

I found a holley Street Dominator and reused the large primary T-Q and a open air cleaner. Being a whoooping 200 ish HP mill, it barley made a difference.

Headers are on the car as well with a 2-1/2 exhaust, H piped to the bumper.

Wow. I'll have to figure out what year this engine is before I do it.

Though, the 2bbl on there is pretty sad and I'd rather do the intake swap than spend money and energy on the stock 2bbl.

My son's 383 is running an old Edelbrock dual plane high rise intake with a 750 Edelbrock carb. It works rather nicely, but the motor has a bit more compression than you likely have in your 400 and certainly more cam.
