good street cam for 360 magnum

-
Valve job,is drive able. I have seen/heard of tight valve stem/valve guide clearance. As long as the springs get near 300-320 lbs at full lift, should be o.k. to 6000-6500.

I'm new at this...so are saying that if I keep the factory heads (no cracks)...
a good valve job and stiffer spring are a must...

thx for keeping the thread alive

Referring to the Eddy heads,on that response. If going to run stock Magnum heads, take a look at them conditionwise. If good, check out, he Hughes 1110 spring, and matching retainers. Should be good to.520 lift, with the stock 1.6 Magnum rocker. You can mill the valve guides down for more lift.Check as needed.

I'd really recommend a custom cam. Hydraulic rollers are kind of pricy, and its really not much more at all to have Comp grind one to your specs....

You need valve springs if you're running a cam. The magnum stockers suck.

I can't imagine what shipping to Hawaii would cost, but those Iron Ram heads will make more power, and even with shipping should be a good chunk cheaper than the Edelbrocks.

Good luck!

ok, i'll call comp and talk to a tech to see what they recommend..................as for the heads, gonna call hughes and get a shipping quote, even if its $200 they will still be $500 cheaper than a set of eddys

Magnums are roller cams, so the standard thoughts in regards to flat tappets doesn't apply. What looks semi-goofy for an older SB works great in a Magnum.

Chris Ryan at Comp is the "Man"- tell him Fred in Seattle with the SC Buick and the Travco sent ya- he'll chuckle!
