Well, I finally got a chance to open the May National Dragster from last Month.
There was a nice picture of me and the Wagon
(5/2024 pg. 128). I was able to get by the current World Champ
(he was .003 red) and a current Div. champ/Former World Champ
(I was .01 to his .03 and .008 stripe) and another Div Champ. (.004
stripe .03 light to his .07).

The lighting changed and it got totally black out and I missed the tree badly
against our good friend CW who won his first National race in Stock. He was
.002 on the tree and he is PLENTY good on the finish so I would have been
a Dead Skunk anyway! The only one better in Div. 7 is his Wife (Sportman World Champ)
and fortunately they have not purchased a Stocker for her to drive = Yet!

The 318 Wagon is often the slowest car on the track and the finish line is feel like
trying to Catch a Bullet in your teeth to tighten up. I generally take to stripe less than
a hun. and hope I have the superior reaction time. Unless the other guy has really made
a mistake on his Dial = Then I test the wilwood brakes last fifty feet.

Still a decent finish for an elder man legally blind in one eye and huge Cataracts in
the other.

I guess even a Blind Chicken get a lump of Corn every now and then!!!

We will be at Woodburn Oregon racing the Double Divisional in a couple weeks.
If you are in the neighborhood stop by and have an Adult Beverage after racing
is done for the day. My boy hopes I will not be running around Screaming and Naked
again, like last time at the Woodburn Track.

I was embarrassing terribly RED in the round of Four.

They ran at night after the regular program was completed.
With my Cataracts in my good eye, the tree is just a bunch of
glaring blurry lights to me as it comes down in the dark. Normally
if the races run late, I just put the car in the trailer and do not
race. However, since it was Semis at a National event, and I could
see down the track OK = I took a shot at racing.

Keep me in your prayers as my next Eye appointment is August 1
and I need to decide if I will get Surgery as the Surgeon tell me
there is always a small chance that something will go wrong and I
am legally blind in the other eye (20/25 is all the good eye will correct with
very strong glasses). If I still have a duct restriction at that time, I will have
no choice but to have the surgery.

If I become legally blind, I will choose to terminate Life at that point as I love my
family way too much to become a burden to them. My close friend Gregg Luneack
(My machinist for many years) and I had a long discussion with both of us
concurring on this before he passed last month.

God is Good = Always!

John, I will be praying for you and your family.
I know God will guide you through this and no matter what happens, you know He is in control.
My brother needed open heart surgery last year and is self employed with no insurance.
He and I had a long talk one day as he was going to let nature take its course. The doctors told him he didn’t have long if nothing was done.
I was thrilled when he agreed to seek help with special grants and other assistance to allow the surgery to be carried out.
I asked him to think of his grandson and other family and to take into consideration how they would feel if he did nothing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t be a burden on your family and I know you would enjoy those grandchildren whether you could see them or not.
I value knowing you over the last couple of years even though we only talk every once in a while.
I will keep you in my prayers and ask Him for great success for your appointments.

Thank you, my friend.
Meeting you was a blessing for Jon and I!
I will be going to Brad's in a month or two if
you need anything moved.

John, he does have another engine there for me. I hope it’s ready in that time frame and if so , maybe we can work something out again.
Enjoy this week and know that you are loved by many.

I race legally blind in my left eye. Lost vision in it due to a virus when I was in my early 30’s.
I prefer the left lane because of it, easier to see to my right if being chased.
Because of the lack of depth perception, I am more streaky on the tree than I would like to be. It’s a definite disadvantage.
But it gives more pleasure when beating guys with two good eyes and buttons, as I footbrake this current car exclusively.
