I ordered a custom ground cam today for my 416 stroker buildup from Scott Brown at http://www.straightline-perf.com/. Wanna take a crack at guessing the specs? :D

Here's the pertinent data:
  • 340 block bored and stroked to 416ci
Eddlebrock RPM heads, untouched out of the box
    Eagle 6.123" H-beam rods
    Ross forged pistons, 21cc dish
Block milled for zero deck height.
    Felpro .039" head gasket
Calculated static compression ratio approx 10.2:1
Eddlebrock TM5 single plane intake manifold, slightly modified
carb... well, there ain't gonna be one! (shhh, it's a secret right now)
    Doug's 1-5/8" primary full-length headers
2-1/2" dual exhaust with cutouts followed by H-pipe, turbo muffs, and turndowns in front of the axle.
manual transmission with 2.87:1 first gear
    8-3/4 rear with 3.23:1 gears
    26" tall tires
    Estimated weight is 3500-3700 lbs.
Oh yeah, the car WILL have a/c, power brakes and power steering.
Okay, so what did I ask for? I want a flat tappet hydraulic cam (lowest cost and maintenance). It is for a street car, so I want mild manners that will work with my power accessories. I also want decent 1/4 mile performance, with a target e.t. in the low 12's.

So what do ya think he came up with?? Give me a guess for duration at .050 and max lift with 1.5 rockers on both the intake and exhaust lobes. Also the lobe seperation. Whoever gets the closest gets noogies. :goodman:

(No cheating, I'll know if you call Scott and ask him. )

238@50 and something in the 525 lift range, and a LSA of 110. Where you get a manual (4 speed?) with a 2.87 first gear?

240/252H
285/302
240/252
.540/.530
3500-4000 rpms
3.91-4.10 gears

Nope, a little bit milder than that on both duration and lift.

Here's a hint... if you look on the straightline website, my cam ain't there. But it is somewhere between the 234/246H and 240/252H.

Jason96R got the intake lobe lift correct at .525". So one noogie for you. :goodman:
Tom1951 got the LSA correct at 112°. So one noogie for you. :goodman:

I left the complete cam specs at my desk at work, so I'll leave this guessing game going 'till Monday... I'm off tomorrow. :thumrigh:

Oh Adam, you don't get nothin' yet. :D And I hear ya on the intake. But this TM5 is just for experimental purposes right now. It's a whole lot easier modifying a single plane intake for port fuel injection than it is a dual plane. I picked this TM5 up from eBay fairly cheap, so I don't mind drilling holes in it to play with this fuel injection stuff. If it works out okay, I will probably go to either a Victor or an M1 single plane.

BadAssDodge, this is guess the cam, not guess the tranny. But since you brought it up :-k ..... yes, I'm going with the TKO-600.

Has anyone seen a comparison of one of the older tm5,tm6 or tm7 against the newer similar manifolds.
Just curious
I have an old TM6 I ran on my 383 for years

MoparMuscle had a Big Block intake shoot out with an old Torker and a new Torker.

The old Torker put out a ton of low end Torque but was out of steam at 5500 rpms.

I can take some pics of my SB TM5 this weekend and post them. One thing I do like about it is the plenum area is pretty small for a single plane. I can imagine how this would help velocity at lower rpm but may be a restriction at higher rpm. It also has fairly small runners, but I plan to fix that. :thumrigh:

Received my cam today.

Here are the specs:
Scott Brown Cam grind 236/248H12
Lift w/1.5 rockers - 0.525/0.510
adv dur - 283/298
dur @50 - 236/248
lobe centerline - 108/116
lobe seperation - 112
