Guns, Dogs and Blades QnA

-
Next up is a Yugoslavia mauser m48 that I saved from another "amateur gunsmith" that total jacked it up. I had to rebarrel it because they had cut it down to like 16 inches, had to weld the holes from a botched drill and tap job and re drill and tap replace and fit a new bolt because they welded the handle on without protecting the lugs and they had softened. The even cut one of the three lugs off for whatever reason. I replaced the stock with a current m48 stock the one on it was a total loss. I then reblued the whole gun and topped it with a bushnell banner scope. Im gonna upgrade it to a burris eventually. It turned out really nice and is one of my favorite guns to shoot now. I did ad a recoil pad to the original style stock.

Apologies for confusion on my reply to DIY, he was referencing the target 22 with the odd grip. It is a very customized grip that literally is molded around your hand. Fits like a literal glove. In essence you can break shooting down into a math formula, the more variables you have the more opportunity for deviations. You can time world class shooters and you can see virtually no deviation in their setup or timing. It is amazing. The 22 pictured is a hand built Kimber 1911 frame with a Marvel conversion slide in 22 caliber. Topped with a Venom Vortex red dot. I am not a world class shooter by any stretch but I do ok.

It shows, guys don’t take that kind of time and effort to just flip rifles to make some coin. Thanks for posting

Nice work! I pretty much stay in my lane with 1911/2011s and ARs other than some general repair.

We have a local guy that hand builds and restores flint locks. And I mean purist style. Uses period correct tools and material. His pieces are stunning. Not my cup of tea at all but man o man they are beautiful. Firearms just like cars are very owner centric! My guys bust my balls day in and day out for my passionate support of 1911s but in the end the continuity is our single focus for all things that go bang! Does not keep me from talking some Glock smack to them tho. When teaching I can draw Tupperware bowls like nobodies business! They just roll their eyes at me!

No more dogs for me until they live longer. I can't handle the loss of another furry family member. Sure, he could clear the room with a single SBD M.O.A.B. I am not going to put my boy down again.

:(
Lost my Black Mouth a Lil over 2 years ago. I Understand Your Pain... Sorry, Ott...No Replacement...

id say almost all of my guns i bought new

as a foreigner in this country, im the first one in my family to have 2nd amendment rights, let alone embrace them

i remember growing up as a teen i had 2 or 3 "illegal firearms" seeing as how back there even BB guns need to be registered
i had a couple of break barrel pellet pistols

Every time I lose one I swear I will not get another as the pain is to much. Then the next thing you know some small fur ball wraps around your leg and you begin the process anew. We are meant to have dogs.

How silly of me I forgot to post pics of my dogs. I have several. First is Marshall im sure most of yall that followed any of my Dart build have seen him he is a rescue I saved from a local shelter. Breed is unknown he is a mutt for sure tho lol he is a good boy. Next is rocky he is a mini aussie. Then is my boxer Winston him and Marshall are best buddy's and they both go wherever I go. Then my pit Ham and my little mutt girl Cordie. They were both rescues from the same shelter as Marshall.

This is a family gun and one that I want to have restored. Just can’t seem to find a Darne specialist anywhere near me.

I have a feeling that it would be tough to find someone capable of doing it justice, and if you did it would probably cost as much or more than a new one - and they're not cheap.

Still, it's very cool! Nothing wrong with a little patina.

I tell you, we must be livin wrong. I can BARELY have the hobby I do with Vixen. Dammit.

Its tough I've been questioning alot of life decisions myself. I can't barely afford anything anymore and I have a good paying job. Most of my stuff i have because I sold something else to get it or just got a really good deal on it and worked my butt off to make it nice again.
