Isn’t it funny how we forget so many aspects. I learned more about myself in those moments than any relationship or school. Your mind is totally uncluttered and you just seem to think in straight lines. The rest is really just stuff.
That can be a problem. I had to get prescription shooting glasses to overcome my left eye dominance. I'm much better shooting shotgun now.
It really isnt a problem now. I can pick up the sight fairly well with my right eye. I can see it being more accurate for target practice but I really need to see the end of the barrel for self defense.
BP if you are right eye dominant, and your left eye is trying to wrestle control from your right, you might try during presentation of the pistol fudging a bit off centerline of your body, it May help you. Bring the pistol up just a touch on your strong side. The red dot is a great tool for self defense as you can focus on the target not your pistol. You might try doing some dry fire in your shop or garage or someplace. From about seven yards to target just focus on the target and practice presenting the pistol from a draw until red dot naturally lands on the target for you. I typically start the students out from high compressed ready for that exercise until their confidence grows and the dot appears consistently for them. Then migrate to including the draw. Working backwards to the draw if you will. It takes some serious practice and you have to get past the inevitable frustration that we all suffer thru being older and raised on iron sights. I got so frustrated I almost gave up, but in the end I just cannot see well enough to run iron sights anymore.
Thanks SLO. That's exactly what I figured out on my own other than the migrating to the draw. Been test driving some different holsters too. My neighbor is retired Federal LEO and has a slew of holsters for the P365. I don't know if Ill get to Carnegie Hall but I'll keep practicing. It's a big change from carrying a 1911.
Well I actually own and operate a Firearms training center. I teach a wide spectrum of both skill and student. From SWAT guys to Joe Shmo who just wants a conceal carry license. I am a sponsored competition shooter and currently hold several Titles including State Champion with pistols blah blah blah. Much like all your years and knowledge about racing you just kind of lay low and let folks do as they will. I am same with firearms stuff. But ifun ya ask me, Lord have mercy I will answer! Hah! To answer your question directly an absolute firm yes on carry insurance. I cannot stress that enough. Absolutely. Keep in mind I do not sell insurance nor do I represent one Company or another. In that arena I am simply a consumer. Several brands have approached me wanting exclusivity as a partner to our range but I have not done that as I think it portrays an image I do not want as an instructor. I prefer to simply educate the student as to the need for carry insurance and let them decide which company to select. Basically there are two major players US Law Shield and USCCA. There are a multitude of others but those two are the gorillas in the room. I have had both, and frankly with some recent changes the differences between the two are minimal. You can’t go wrong with either. They both offer varying degrees of coverage and side bar stuff. Basic fundamental coverage is very inexpensive. In essence from about 12 bucks to as much as fifty a month. The fifty is for all kind of education access etc. Bottom line if you carry you need to carry insurance. Hope this answers your question. When you get frustrated and bone weary of puppy nonsense I always tell myself (as convincingly as possible) that they are like children. If you don’t make the effort and investment when they are little you get what you get when they get older. But man it is hard to see when you are beat and simply want to sleep. Our pup has an absolute knack for waiting till I am deep sleep to want something. She is getting better everyday but holy smokes I had forgotten the energy it took to invest in a pup.
