For those of us that can't watch the vid...can you give a brief overview?

Happy late Diwali to you and your family, Miss Rani. Did ya'll do anything special or have any kind of special feast or customs/rituals you performed? I had a couple beers last night to celebrate, even though I'd never heard of Diwali 'til now. :D

Hi Rani I can't stand to watch that video but from what I read, different regions have different ways of celebrating Diwali. What did you used to do back in India and how do you celebrate it here? I remember you cleaned up your place last week, was that a part of it?

Thanks everyone for your understanding of something I know is very different for a lot of you but it means a lot to me, and it means a lot that the president himself well wished. I don't know why some people don't like him .....he is lot better and cooler and more caring than a lot of other world leaders, but anyway

To Mr. YY1 its a festival that happens every year and is a festival of lights that signifies the triumph of good over bad.

To Mr. David ....no the cleanup here was just to keep code enforcers away and take pride in the hobby with a little housekeeping :D

To Mr. Cudavert ......that is what that party was all about I told you I went to sat. night. we cant use fireworks here so we ended up just using a dance hall to get together and had a small party and a Dj spun the latest pop hits in my native language and I hit the dance floor and did some John Travolta moves .....oh yea LOL

Did he play Babu Mann

he is cute but NO LOL

they have something called fusion which takes an old classic song and remixes it into the new modern techno beats with a lot of bass and fast beat. I like to dance to fast high energy beats only.

I am all about good over bad. Happy Diwali. Thanks for the Obama free explanation.

not to get into religious topic but the holiday is really for a king who was gone from his kingdom and while he was gone evil came in and rotted the kingdom and deceived the people into believing lies about the king and each other and caused brothers to fight...then finally a lit path (that's why we light candles) led the king back to the kingdom and upon his return it marked the destruction of the evil that had crept in during his absence and offered new hope to the people.

my pastor at the church I am going to discussed this with me and he says the holiday very much relates to the Christian belief in that an evil had come and spoiled the world and there was a time people were living in darkness but upon the arrival of the Savior, brought new "light" and people from death to everlasting life. which is why its the festival of lights

Happy Diwali.

I'm open to celebrate every one's holidays (and get more days off work). After all, Isn't America the melting pot for all cultures to come together????

And it's interesting to hear about other cultures.

Are u Guy's kidding me????????? Sorry nevermind
