Generally how much to have them installed?

How long would valves/seats last without hardened valves seats with a mild cam?

Can I just swap heads at a later date?

(596's {my first porting attempt} milled .040, will go with iron 4 bbl intake and A/C with a Crane 693901 camshaft (same as 318willrun's crate 360 cam/build) I bought these from member: 540slant6 in May 2016.

Usually $12-$14 per cylinder . Stainless valves usually $12-$13 per cylinder . Oversize valves require bowl work

Those should definitely have the hardened seats given the year. I had them cut .030 intake and .040 block side. Ran great on my teeener with a .444 purple cam.

Go get em man, best of luck!

Look at the window port ,man... It's awful ....valve job ,is everything. B

Generally how much to have them installed? Depends on your shop. The above cost is probably close, plus a valve job, etc, etc.

How long would valves/seats last without hardened valves seats with a mild cam? All depends. I've had them last for thousands of miles... The less part throttle highway driving the better.

Can I just swap heads at a later date? Certainly.

This is for a 280-360hp engine (remember I am a newbie-guessing). Should I move on to another head set?

Run 'em. If you get Mopar seats cut your hardening can go with it...its thin. like .010-.030 deep

340/360 heads are pretty much the same. Don’t waste time in the chambers, other than a slight deburr. They should all have the same volume, cc’s. Clean up the bowls under the valve heads, port match the roof and divider wall of the intake ports. Protect the valve seats. Port match the roof and sides if the exhaust ports. Good enough if you are not a porter, I am not either.

I asked my machinist(mopar guy) about doing the 273 heads. He said to not worry about hardened seats with the low kms the car sees nowadays

With a quality valve job the as-cast ports will support that level plus some, even using milder cams. Less is more with porting, and you really should just spend on a realty good performance valve job.

Looks like they've been smoothed, not ported.
Get a lap in on the valves to see if you have good valve seats left.

I want everyone to see the seat height in these pics, then go look at the intro to a port job pics.
