Have you ever seen any Dart, Valiant, Demon or Duster with a rear window defroster?

Again, the electric grid defroster was new for model year 1974 in the US.

Here in Canada it was pretty common for people to order the rear defogger/defroster in any car. I have had at least half a dozen a bodies with one or the other. I believe that the 72 model year was the last one for the blower style. They were installed in b and e bodies too.

Yep. I'm sure they used the same switches. Later the defroster grids were called "Heated back glass". Now that would be hard to print on a switch bezel.
That’s probably why they switched to hieroglyphics!

My 74 Dart Sport has the electric grid rear defroster. It also has E58 360, snorkel hood scoop, hood blackout, dual racing mirrors, sunroof, buckets, console, and fold down back seat.

Many A bodies in Canada have the rear window defog blower.

I have a 73 Dart 340 Sport, fold down rear seat, sunroof car. It has the defrost type rear window. It appears to me to be original using the factory wiring harness. Switch under dash.

I also had a 72 Dodge Demon with the rear window defogger. It attached to one of the 6x9 speaker holes in the package shelf. Air was pulled in through the perforated speaker area.

Electric grid should have atimed off switch.

Interesting.

Do you know the build date?

I wonder if it's a "January 1" thing as some other things have been.

I've got a couple of factory rear defogger option kits for a '66 Barracuda. Another I got out of a '65, so, not sure how early they started. Anyone else with a '64-6 Barracuda (or any other '66 and earlier A-body) with rear defog? Seems to be a fairly rare option back then.....at least around here in Sun Diego.

This is all I have. No build sheets found.

On Abodies the first electric grid rear glass option came on 1973 Duster and Dart Sport only. In 1974 it was an option on all Abodies.
See code 23-64-314 in 73 and 74 Chrysler parts catalog.

I have a 69 340 swinger that came factory equipped with rear defogger/deicer. It's a two speed blower fan style. I'll try and post a pic of the switch, also IIRC it says "rear air" .

My 75 Scamp has the blower/defogger for the rear window. Unlike the photos posted of the 70 Dart earlier this this thread that shows a duct under the package tray routing the air to a centre vent below the rear window, mine spews the air up right above the motor through a grill (opposite side to the rear package shelf speaker). I haven’t had to use it often these days but it still works. As other have said, it’s got two speeds.

Rear defogger from ‘75 Dart with grille cover on what is left of the package tray cover. 2 speed switch and motor. Rear seat also wearing factory covers I haven’t seen before. All from the same car. Extremely rotted and parted out.

Now the more think about it maybe it says "rear defroster". Now I really need to look. Lol

Post #43 is exactly what is in my 75 Scamp (except for that seat pattern).

My 73 dart sport export car has the electric grid type in the window. Thats kinda rare since you usually only see them on cars with fold down rear seat.
I have seen plenty of the blower type ones over the years. I think I have a couple of those setups out in the shed. The rare one is the blower motor that has an enclosure that lets you run rear defrost and still have two 6x9 speakers. I have a couple of those in storage. They may not have been available on A body but I know they were used on E and C for sure.

I have seen those on E bodies.

Taxi or cop car? I had a 76 that was maroon with that exact interior, it was an unmarked/detective police car. Front and rear sway bars, oil cooler, calibrated speedo, very cool car.

2 door hardtop and factory because the seat bottom is square cornered, 4 door bottoms are round cornered. They are rounded to make exit and entry easier.
