Header advice

i'm not convinced headers through mufflers will add anything to a stock 340.
And an H or X pipe won't either. They were sometimes installed on factory big blocks
because they reduced sound which allowed the use of free flowing mufflers.

I’ll be buying TTI longtubes just for the sound alone. Will I pick up a little power on a mostly stock engine? Don’t know and don’t care. Still worth it to me. :thumbsup:

u will pick up power , but might need a jetting change to get the full potential--------jmo

TTI, I would not suggest anything else. You only get what you pay for. Some like the X pipe. I am partial to the H pipe. Why run interference when you can run straight out. You only need to equalize the pressure. Remember heat cross over block off on the intake, And single to dual plane manifold change everything. 440 and Hemi Trac-pack cars all had H-pipes. ??? Fuel injection cars don't pull fuel they inject it, So you can clogged them up if you want to.

Put and X in your sewage pipe and see how fast the **** clogs up. Here we go again, LMFAO

what mufflers were on this during the video?

For several years, I used to take the HotRod 360 out of my DD Barracuda, in October, and reinstall it in May, having freshened it during the winter.
The winter-engine was a Smog-era 318 with a TQ on it, a small-port CI 4bbl intake, and I left the TTIs/dual 3inchers/ with 3in-3out Dynomax turbo mufflers, installed.
It ran great, and sounded pretty good.
I think for two winters, I ran a hot-rodded A904 with a 2800stall,
One winter I ran the Regular A833
Sometimes I ran the A833od.
Eventually I got a GVod and slapped that on behind the A833od.
Sometime later , I got a Commando box and ran that with the GVod.
Depending on my mood, any rear gear from 2.76 to 4.30, might be back there.
That 318 had a stock cam, stock heads, stock everything, except:
the 4bbl, some upgraded springs to control the tiny valves at 5500;
adjustable 273 valve gear, and
the 2800stall.........
and the truth is that, for a winter-engine, that low-compression marshmallow was a total hoot.
Did the headers make any more power, than 340 logs (which I had) would have?

Don't know/don't care,
but I can tell you that with 4.30s, she did pull real good; and
with Seven usable gears like this;
3.09-2.41-1.67-1.30-1.00-.78od-.54od, 65=1880rpm,
Whatablast!
But, and I did have to run some meaty studded tires all-round.

BTW
to make the most of this 4bbl/combo,
I did have to rework the carb, AND especially the Timing curve.

Flow Flowmaster 50's. They are on the small Diameter exhaust in the picture . we cut them off and welded on the 3'' inlets and outlets then painted them with Bar-B-Q paint. What I like about Flowmasters you can cut them up and weld them back together . So you can make them fit what ever you want
