Header build dies

Prepping to build new 1-7/8" headers I made these to form the ends of the tubing. Worked well so I thought I'd share the idea:

This got the tubing close enough, then before MIG-ing the inside I used a hammer and punch to form them more tightly into the corners. I brazed the outside for added strength.
 
Very smart. I like the idea. Looks like it worked well.
 
Thanks, guys! I will mention that I did anneal the metal with a torch on some to finish the shaping. Helps the steel regain malleability. This was mostly when I had them welded in but needed to indent slightly for header bolt room.

...in a few days I may get some more photos rounded up.
 
Omg I thought someone died :BangHead:

i worked at a place running brake presses
one of the presses had a sign on it that read "before servicing block die"
took me YEARS to figure that one out
