I have a 74 duster with a slant six and I was driving down the road at night when my headlights just start flashing at pretty slow intervals i pulled over reached behind the dash and the headlight switch burned my hand i don't know much but i don't thinks its supposed to be that hot does anyone know what the problem could be?

Replace the headlight switch and repair that harness connecteor as needed.
I've seen them melt until a saw was needed to get the old swith apart from the connecter. Good luck

oh thanks man but um do you know how do you get the old one out?

If it is like mine there is a button on the switch near the dash, that you have to push to release the stem.
Once the stem is out unscrew the bezel from the front, and drop the switch down, you can then remove the connector on the top of the switch.

But I am assuming that this is the same as the 60's era switch.

I would also suggest putting your headlights on a relay. Halogens draw more amperage than the old school lamps and old OEM wiring is marginal at best.

thanks for the information everyone, i ordered a new one
