I admit I have been on FABO for more than a few years, and have built many old Mopars since the mid 80s, but at 76 and health issues, I am mostly old and woreout. I sold my last Mopar a month or so ago, the 62 Lancer, it found a new loving home with a guy that already had 5-6 of them!! And as 95% of the time, he drove more than a few miles to get it.

So, I listed my latest projects, 66 Ford Fairlane and 64 Merc Comet in the non Mopar sales section. Check them out if any interest in brand Z!

I have always loved learning new things, and always have loved a few Ford models, and to be honest, I grew tired of looking for decent and fair priced Mopar builders here in Texas. So I ventured out!!

I really have no idea if I will be able to go cold turkey and not ever look for another project, as long as I still draw breathe, even though I KNOW all I need now is something pretty much done. The Fiarlane is real close! I do have a 75 straight 6 AMC Hornet 99% done though for a (pretty slow ish) toy.

One day you are a snot nosed kid and the next day, well, you are getting close to the end of the trail and road. Its been quite a ride!

To all other FABO Members: Nothing to see here, so just move along!

To @barbee6043: (Fingers to lips: SHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! You're not supposed to say anything about that '66 Fairlane, because in the Perfect World in my head (full or rainbows and butterflies and unicorns), I'll get my shop set-up next summer, you'll live forever, and we'll work out a deal on that '66 next fall!)

So you just hush-up down there, ok?

(Sure wish the timing was better on this. I really do.)

Every day is a gift. Every sunrise is an opportunity. Buried 2 good friends last month so I'm grabbing life with both hands.

Heck. at the rate you are moving I will die of old age before you ever make it here to Texas!!!! Heck, I am almost dead of old age anyway!! ha:BangHead::poke:

With your luck, I will sell off the 64 Comet and the 75t AMC Hornet and just keep the 66 Fairlane till I die, and THEN you would have to deal with my wife! She Is not an easy mark like me!! ha :BangHead:

I’m sorry to hear that (and really happy to see you got your car!), but if I bought another vehicle right now, my friends would be coming to my funeral soon, as my wife would kill me!

i am your age too and someone said "Life is just like a roll of toilet paper, the closer to the end the faster it goes" enjoy it while you can. I am working on a 47 Dodge pickup that I may not ever finish but it will have a good start for someone else, Joe

Uff-dah! If you only knew about all of the projects I've been doing around the house recently. Can't hardly stand-up straight for a couple minutes after sitting as my back is so sore...

And then my wife decides she wants to have Christmas at our place this year, so guess who gets to finish-up all of the little Odds & Ends projects that we've been putting-off? Not her, that's for sure!

Like I told you on the phone, I just want to build one more car that "scares me a little" before I die. Don't know what it will be, but that '66 of yours could be a good start!

About maybe 3 years ago, I sold my 64 Savoy. It was to be my last hooray. I got it from a Mopar friend's friend at a good price. Roller, slant car like 99% of the savoys. I did all the body/paint, found a good 383 core at the very least and a 8 3/4 rear, A833 4 speed, installed A100 style Smittybilt buckets, ACC carpet. I still have to install the rear, engine, etc. I hated to think about finishing it, could hardly get up and down. I put the pencil to it, and figured IF I finished it, I would just as well off $ wise to go ahead and sell it. Realistically. So I advertised it on FB Martetplace and all the B body sites. As usual, I get a million replies as to "nice car, good price, wish we were not 1000 miles away" and a couple of West Tx,"we will by it if you deliver it free"/ A guy from Fl. bought it and had a guy with a 2 car trailer deliver it to him. THEN, I have a doc appointment and he tells me DON'T stop, you will never move again!!

And thats how I have 2 Ford projects!!!!! :BangHead: :BangHead:  :poke:

That 66 Fairlane is super cool!
I have my eye on a 68 Fairlane for sale locally, but in reality it's not in my budget, and my wife WOULD kill me if I was to bring it home.

I have built Mopars 40 odds years. I wanted a 70-2 Duster again, before I bought my 2 Ford ish cars couple years ago. I would have bought a 73 up beaker, but I could not find a project in 4 hours of here that was not a stripped down over priced parts car. We raise Boar Goats and when we have bottle babies, we are tied down and 4 hrs away is max..
A Mopar bud had a good 63 Dart project I should have bought, worth the $, but just did not. But 8 hr there and back was a non go. Should have just hired a hot shot and bought it!
I love learning new things. Fords are not Mopar!

The fact Fords are way easier to find, tend to be more affordable, repop parts that can are Stang parts are cheap, etc / but hey are are inferior to Mopar !!!!
