What size are the heater hoses for a 1969 small block, 1/2"or 3/4"?

They are different sizes, 1/2 and 5/8".

Just measure the hose bibs. Sometimes a hose is a different size on both ends.

I assuming that when you measure the bib that you want the diameter of the tube area and not the larger diameter "rib" area, correct?

Consider silicone hose, since it should last forever. You can get in black for classic look, or blue or red for bling. I am pondering retro-fitting sections of steel tubing from newer cars since it is lighter and cheaper. Running such long lengths of hose and trying to secure it on the valve cover (as the factory did) seems clumsy.

Believe it or not, the o.e. Corbin Clamps do a better job of sealing the hoses. Unlike common threaded clamps which will pinch and cut into the hosen as you tighten it up, the whole corbin clamp puts equal tension on the hose and does not pinch or cut and is much easier to instal with just a set of corbin pliers. Just a thought to consider. The factory clamps were not a downgrade to save money.
