I bought a hellcat crate this week after several years of dreaming and saving! I'm in the planning stage and collecting parts to swap into my Demon. I will document as much as I can here. I've learned a lot from others' build threads - thank you

I've installed HDK, T56, subframe connectors, and a built 9" over the years, so luckily I have a good foundation to start with. The car currently has a reliably built LA 408 stroker with FI-tech fuel injection that I will probably post for sale here once complete or part out.

I'm mainly in collecting parts stage. The car currently has a LA small block and GM style T56. Does anyone know if bellhousings interchange LA to GenIII? ?

It seems that some brands list them as same part number (quick draw for example), but the quicktime I have list the 2 as different part numbers
Quick Time RM-8074 Quick Time Bellhousing - Small Block Mopar

Bellhousing bolt pattern is the same, minus an unused bolt at the top. Pretty sure the 8074 bellhousing is the one to use with the GM trans, but will look at my notes.

Cool build, I am in the collecting parts phase as well. But for a 5.7/TR6060 swap instead of the HC.

Subscribed to this thread. I have a T56 with the same bellhousing. I was going to use it behind a 340 block but that project hit the skids. Now I’m thinking about going to a Hemi in a different car and using that trans. It would be nice to verify that the LA bellhousing will work behind a Hemi.

Small Block Bell housing pattern is 100% same as gen 3. Done it many times.

That's good to know. I have this fresh IMM built 422 mated to the new T56 but the project is dead in the water so I have been back and forth about putting th combo or a Hemi/T56 combo in my 70 'cuda. I will be following this thread to see the progress and learning. Interested in all the ancillary equipment need to put the Hellcat in. I've been looking at crates and take-outs.

Thank you 408 swinger. Saves me $900. Next up for me is deciding on flywheel, clutch and headers. I plan to mock up motor/trans on the ground first

Hmm... This is cool. A Hellcat crate in a vehicle that is about 1200-1300 lbs lighter than the new Hellcat Challengers/Chargers.
"Hold on!"

Update - Pulled old motor, ordered a bunch of parts. Installed Schwartz Intercooler manifold. Stefs oil pan and TTI headers both back ordered. Keeping me from test fitting motor
I want to clean up firewall. Hoping to keep factory air set up, but not sure if lines will conflict where they exit firewall
Also trying to decide if it is worth it to mini tub. I plan to relocate the fuel tank for exhaust clearance. Trunk is pristine in this car. Hate to cut it, but at this point there’s no going back stock

Dang, that is a clean trunk.

Here is another cheaper option for a bell housing.

Here is a third bellhousing option. Not saying it is better, just an option.

Pretty sure this is the one coming with my SST kit.

Quick Draw Mopar Hemi to Tremec Magnum T56 Bellhousing - Three Pedals

BTW, not doing the TR6060 swap now. Wasn’t a lot more for a new T56 Magnum with the current deals and if the used TR6060 turns out to need parts pretty sure it would cost more in the end than just buying the kit.

Thanks, I should be good reusing the SB quick time.
You will be happy with the magnum. I ran mine for a few years with the small block with no issues. I thrashed on it pretty hard. Definitely worth taking the time to dial it in for smoother shifts. I learned that the hard way

I’m doing a 70 swinger Hellcat swap myself. How’s acquiring the parts going?? I had a hell of a time. What ecu are you planning to use and fuel set up??

I agree lead times have been a little frustrating. I only get to work on mine about 1 day a week so it hasn’t held me up too bad yet.
I bought the mopar crate harness/ecu. For fuel I plan to use the walbro 450 in-tank. I haven’t started wiring or fuel yet. I’ve been working on motor fitment and supercharger plumbing. I’ll post an update with pictures soon

Very cool. Definitely watching this thread. I hope to be where you are in the near future.

You got my attention for sure! I put a 6.7 in a 72 Demon recently so I feel your pain already! Hah! I did a long winded thread on my build here on FABO. I ran into a multitude of issues but none that were insurmountable. It is now hands down my favorite car to drive! And I have one nasty Cuda so that should tell you how much fun it will be to drive. I got zero regrets, but I sure made a lot of mistakes along the way. There are several modern swap threads on FABO I would sure read them all as it will save you a ton of work and cash. There are some super creative guys on here for sure. I am just a knuckle dragging racer so mine got built that way, some of these guys have simply just built beautiful cars.

I have spent some time on your thread. Really cool build. Thanks for posting.

Got the Stefs oil pan. Loooong wait, but I think it was worth it. Nice quality. Swapping to mid sump requires changing the pick up as most of you know. I used new main cap bolts as a precaution. Although after researching I think old ones can be reused. They are torque+angle, not torque to yield. Hellcat bolts are a different part number than 5.7 and 6.4.

Subscribed. I vote yes for mini tubs, you're going to be roasting tires with ease when the 6.2 is running.

I used the truck dipstick. Installed direct to block after removing plug. Reused the factory windage tray/gasket since motor is new. Also installed mopar 90 filter adapter for kframe clearance

Engine is in the car! Fits surprisingly well even though it looked massive on the stand. No cutting required except the typical frame notch for alternator. Everything on firewall had to go. Master cylinder has to shift
