We want to thank you for your time!
Awesome story about a group of WV Coal Miners who came to the devastated town of Chimney Rock, NC and rebuilt/reconnected a road that the NCDOT and Army Corps. of Engineers turned their noses up at. Chimney Rock is 30ish miles from where I live, and was pretty much obliterated by the flood from Helene.

Jackie , that's kinda what a local construction company did in the little town of Matlacha Fl, back after Hurricane Ian 2 years ago. The county government didn't give a **** about us on Pine Island, they had better plans for Pine Island. But Conch Construction took it upon their selves to rebuild the only road in . They are a local multi generation family from Pine Island. Then of course Gov DeSantis jumped on board !
In times of need the good local people is what matters !

You & T may have been to Chimney Rock on your bike. If so, you know what kind of terrain it is down there. Straight up on one side....straight down to the river on the other!

That's about the only place we haven't been!
We see you soon !

Great article! "Them West Virginia Boys came in and said we'll have a Road punched through in about 3 days" I love it!!

My wife and I visited Asheville, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure a couple years ago. We even stopped to get a picture of the Bat Cave, NC sign. I can understand how that much rain could wipe out the roads. Wish I was in a position to go help.

Thanks go out to The Virginia Boys.

Made a big mess, we have a lot of that left around here from June floods but, it is getting better .. friend lost his really nice B-body in it

I know most of y'all picked up on it, but for you young'uns that may have never heard it, I picked the title for this thread from a line in an old Alabama song.
