I have been off of the forum for a couple of years, but I am back in the hobby. Please don't let me make a $40K mistake on a potential purchase. The 69 Dodge Dart GTS that I am looking at has the following VIN tag. Can someone help me decode the info on this? If so, I would be grateful. Thank you! Also, how difficult or easy is it to take a Dart or Dart Swinger and rebadge the car into a GTS?

There are #'s on the radiator support (DS) and left side trunk trough that need to match. I'll let the experts help but I do know that.

Does any of this info match the car?

Only 102### car

LS23P9E102***: GTS#465: ##OWNERSHIP UPDATE## 7/4/2022 : GTS # 465 is now residing in Connecticut under the care of Steve K. Steve bought his GTS from a Classic Car Dealer in the Philadelphia area. The GTS started out in California, moved to the Eastern US through the hands of a few owners who did not put many miles on the car as it only shows 63,000 original miles. Steve discovered his GTS was built on Tuesday August 20, 1968. Originally it was painted Y4 Light Gold with Light gold interior. It is now W1 White with black interior, black vinyl top, and black bumble bee stripe. The original listing follows: Rob spotted the black bumble bee stripe in the back of a used car lot in California in 1999. A new battery and a couple fan belts later, Rob had the GTS fired up and running. His numbers matching 340/727 GTS has only been painted once and had the bumpers chromed. The rest is all original. Rob's GTS has factory A/C and power steering.

Yes, this is the car. It's currently for sale @ $39,500 at F40 Motorsports in Connecticut. I am passing on the car because of the changeover from original to White exterior. The black interior and vinyl top is original to the car. Very nice driver quality car. Thank you very much for the info!

F40 Motorsports is the shop of Wayne Carrini's "Chasing Classic Cars" TV show.

Y4 light Gold car that's now white with black inner fenders?

The interior is not supposed to be black according the blurb above. It's supposed to be light gold.

If that's the case, Wayne has $25k into it.
According to the sales manager, F40 doesn't own this car- they are selling it on consignment for the current owner. However, F40 did go through the car before listing it for sale, and they did brake work (rear wheels), blower motor replacement, and new tires all the way around. Reportedly, they have $2.5K invested in the car, prior to sale. All of this was to "make the car roadworthy and dependable".
