A few questions... Can anyone tell me what was used under the fender where it attaches to bay area..? Almost looked and felt like some sort of sealer / glue...and, for those that know and have restored their cars, did you apply what ever it is when redid yours..?
Next, there was a small piece of bare metal? under my fender tag sticking out. I've seen this on other cars too, varying in size...but not on other cars. Why was it put there, and again, would / did you put it back when restoring. I guess it maybe becomes a personal preference thing, as I'm not going for a concourse resto, but I'm torn between, I might as well put it back even though it looks odd with the freshly painted bay...and leave it out because it's not a complete factory, OEM concourse resto. Why was it bare and not painted too...or was it..?
Thanks for the help..!

Body sealer. Go to the AMD site and watch the video on how to install fenders . They specify the exact material.

The piece under the fender tag is an inspection tag that was longer and had the inspectors stamp on it, just discard it...

The material on my 67 dart fender felt like expanding foam. I believe it was OEM.

I found similar between the Dutchman and the inside trunk panel.

Oops.,. Thay was the wtong one. One of there vids showed which seasnt to use.

You could use seam sealer on top of the inner fender. When I restored my car, I used nothing. I stripped my entire car (including the back side of the fenders) to bare metal, sprayed on two good coats of Epoxy primer, several coats of high build polyester primer (most of which got sanded off) one coat of sealer, three coats of base coat and three coats of clear. Even though a lot of the primer got sanded off, I am I feel very comfortable that rust can never form there.

One of the reasons for some form of seal there is road dirt and water will seep out from the joint
