I have a 73 dart sport but the trans is out of something else but i dont know what! I want to buy a new clutch kit and throwout bearing but i dont know what to order! it is a 4spd trans with a bellhouseing for a 10.5" flywheel and the numbers i could make out are as follows: on the pass side stamped on the side of the trans was 317796, next to that number made into the casting was C 99129 H, the one next to the input shaft was C94796. The shaft has 23 splines and uses a 1 1/4 throwout bearing! this trans worked great with the old 318 so i was just going to put a clutch and bearing on and drop in the new 360 with balanced flywheel of course! But can someone tell me what clutch and bearing I should get for this trans?

Here you go http://www.brewersperformance.com/

I always talk to Wayne. They will take care of you and tell you what you need.

anyone know what the numbers i have mean?

I don't believe you need to be concerned about the numbers that much.

What I think you have is basically the same set up as I have. The 23 spline tells you that it is a A833 small block 4-speed. If it was 18 spline then it would be a big block 4-speed.

What you need is a 360 fly wheel, throw out bearing, 10.5 clutch and pressure plate, and alignment tool. Now you need to think of what the intended use of the car will be before you talk to Brewers. Drag racing, hot street and some strip, or just all street. This will give them the info to what you need. You don't want to set at a red light with clutch pressed in and absolutely think your leg is going to fall off because of all the pressure you have to use to hold the clutch in. I was going to get a Centerforce II clutch and pressure plate but Wayne said that I would be better off with the McLeods 10.95 so that's what I went with. Notice the size difference.

ok here is what im thinking! the clutch that came off the car looks stock! it has 23 splines! but the throwout bearing looks like one off a truck it is a bearing for a 1.25 shaft which is what i have! now what if i order a 23 spline clutch that is made for a 10.5" flywheel and then order a 1.25 bearing well they work together? the stock Dart Sport setup was a 1" bearing i believe but i can see why it wont work if i just got the bearing for the bigger shaft and used the 23 spline clutch kit from centerforce!

Just order a new clutch & pressure plate kit. You'll get the clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing and an alignment tool. I'd suggest you buy new flywheel bolts, too.

I bought a Hays kit from Mancini Racing a few years ago- no issues at all.

Yeah you can do that. I don't see why the 1.25 bearing wouldn't work because there is no limiting factor in where the bearing and pressure plate come together.

Keep in mind that some pressure plates (diaphragms) require you to remove the over center spring on the clutch petal. That's why I wanted to talk to someone over the phone so he could tell me what I need (intended use) and anything else I might need to know. If I had not talked to Wayne and just ordered clutch/pressure plate there is a 99.8% chance I would have not removed the over center spring. LOL!

When you order just make sure to ask do you have to remove the over center spring with the type pressure plate that you are ordering.

everythign is on order exept the bearing i will get that local! i talked to Brewers and my setup will work! im am getting a centerforce 23 spline clutch kit and a 1 1/4" throwout bearing it will have light pressure which will be good for the street! thanks for your help!!!
