Help! Swapped 302 heads on my 318.

Not if the machine shop is good and mills the intake face on the heads to match the head deck mill. The ports may not align perfectly due to the block end walls (if using the cork end gaskets), but the intake will fit well enough for you not to know it.

Im going to check the valve hights. The heads were completely redone at the machine shop. So if i had a bad seat or valve he would of told me.

Have you tried a leak down test???

If you're gauge didn't move when doing a compression check, you may have open valves that aren't seated... Do a leak down test and see if there is any leakage in the intake valves or exhaust valves or both...
 
Hey so i pulled the valve covers and used a snapon jumper switch i have to crank the motor. I saw that he intake valve on cylinders 1 and 4 werent really moving. SlI pulled the rocker shafts off and found that those two pushrods had some scraping on them. I put in the ball type pushrods and checked it again. The valves opened and closed like they should. Put it all back together and it fired right up and sounded like a awesome running mopar it should be. No tapping sounds, smoke or anything.

Hmmm. remember 302 heads came on ROLLER cam 318 motors thus the had shorted push rods, than the non roller 318s hydro cams
 
not all 318 roller blocks with 302s had the roller cam, im running 302s on my 360 with regular hyd pushrods
