I need help! Does anyone have a trick for removing the distributor drive gear without taking off the intake manifold? I need to spin up some oil pressure
with a drill and the octogon rod with everything more or less together.
Thanks :eek:ops:

I use a large flat tip screwdriver and a strong pick up magnet tool. Use the screwdriver to spin the drive gear backwards while using the magnetic pick up tool to lift it out.

BTW: make sure and mark which way the slot is pointing so you get it back in right.

Oh yeah, welcome to the board :burnout:

actually need to turn it clockwise and it will walk up the gear...then grab it with pick up...long nose pliers or whatever..

I saw a post where someone made a "hook" out of a wire coat hanger to grab the gear from underneath and pull it up.

Thank you all, I used a combination of ideas and used my largest Craftsman screw driver and a big glob of "GOOP", let it set for a few hours, turned it clockwise and lifted it right out. Thans again.
