I'm sure a lot of your remember me, and that there have been many many new additions since the last time I have been active here on the forums. I thought I'd take the time to update you guys on some of the things that have been going on. As some of you may remember, in June of 2010 I got a job as an apprentice at a local Rod Shop here in PA. Just thought I'd update you on some of the things I have been working on. Hopefully those of you that remember me asking tons of questions in the chat room will be proud of what I've learned thus far. I have gotten to work on some cool stuff! I'll let the pics talk though.

They started me almost right away straightening and polishing all of the stainless trim... it was good practice for when I started to learn mud work later on...

Then at some point they decided it was a good idea to try and teach me to weld. haha took some practice but eventually I started to lay down decent welds. This was the first one I ever got really excited about. Nothing amazing but it was nice to see progress.

Hello Zack
Looking good and sounds like things are moving forward at the new Job...
Good to see you back with us, Yes I remember and this is some great news to see this evening

I got my big break when they started to have me restore some old gas pumps my boss purchased. This is when we realized I had a natural talent for body work. Or so I am told. I still have something to prove.

And when that pumped was done... you would never know it was in such bad shape... my first bodywork experience was on these two gas pumps. The top I did all of the work to is the tall one...

I learned to make little pieces like this....

As well as things like this trunk floor for this Rambler!

Lastly... I started doing body work on the cars we have in the shop after only those two gas pumps and a month or two of experience... they threw me to the dogs on that one! And it's looking like I came out unscathed. Our detail guy is buffing it now so here's a teaser shot. The straightest parts of this truck are the panels I straightened. Bill and I (older gentleman I work with) are the last two people to touch everything before paint. I was told I have a natural talent and they want me to do all of the final blocking from now on.

Hey Zach!

Great to "see" you again!

You are doing some fine work my friend.

Tony

Thanks fellas! I'll be around more with more updates and hopefully be able to chime in on body tech questions! haha.

Just wait until I build a hot rod. This summer I'll be looking for a Model T coupe body... building my own chassis... and dropping in a 318 and 904 tranny. I'll make sure to post that build for sure... seeing as it's mopar powered and all :supz:

Mad skills that would cost a bundle to have dun around here Zack !!!!!!!
I will send you a template for my lower rear quarters and let you go to town with them..I pay cash ....... Looking great and Congratulations

Zach do you still have your Rampage ?

Wish I had your skill. You are a natural, maybe even a prodigy.

DD, I have a lot to learn still! I am willing to bet you could still school me in a lot of things "car"! I only learn as much as the older gents around me willing to teach me the tricks of the trade!

And yeah Mike, learning this stuff is going to save me a lot of money when I finally get something built. That's the only downfall of this job. I work on everyone else's stuff and don't have anything of my own! :wack:

Dang that sucks since it was the rarest of all years

Excellent work Zach! You should be proud of yourself. It looks great!

Looks like you found one hell of a shop to work for.

Not many guys get a job doing what they love and get trained by professionals daily, but I'm sure your talents are really helping you to gain the confidence of the boss man.

A few more years at this place and you will be so skilled you can pretty much do anything you can think up.

Great skills Zach! Very impressive for such a short time on the job. Keep up the good work.
