Anyone running high end audio? Im not talking competition grade but at least 1000w
Whats the alternator of choice . Currently my 60 amp stock is fine at cruise but i need more juice at idle
Choices are denso/gm/tuff stuff mopar. Most of what ive read so far are inconclusive. Also. Im not upgrading my whole harness. Ammeter and bulkead connections have been addressed
.
Right now denso looks most visually appealing.
Thanks in advance

A 1000w is about 75 amps so about (75+60) 135 amp alternator.
Look for ones with good output at idle.

Not specifically for audio, but I'm using a stock '89 318 truck alternator. I believe it's 100 amp.

Make sure you use the correct gauge cable for both positive AND negative from the alternator, feed your amps through relays hooked directly to a 12V+ distribution lug that doesn't go through any bulkhead connector, and use a big, AGM battery, which acts like a massive capacitor to power through high current draw bass hits.

The Odyssey battery I'm using has a 5000 amp dead short rating. It will heat a short-circuited wrist watch to 400 degrees in a fraction of a second....really.
