anyone use a screen trans filter?if so where did you buy it.

I've got a couple of brass screen high flow 727/904 torqueflite trans filters that I tried years ago. It's nice that they are cleanable/reusable and have minimal restriction. But I'm pretty sure I heard that they are not as efficient at filtering the smallest particles. I've been using the regular ones and service periodically on my race car. My 2005 Dakota and 2004 dually use different filters. I don't recall what the original purpose/application was for the brass filters/screens.

Can't imagine what real benefit you'd get from such a thing. Shorter transmission life is not a benefit, and the factory '66-up filter offers no substantial restriction.

well..i have been using a screen filter in my race 904s for many years.

I bought them from Turbo Action....

first off, remember seeing them.thought they would make less work for the pump, but i hear you both, was thinking it would be like k&n washable you know?

they use porous brass filters in carburetors, I see no issue.

like tony said-turbo action, I have a 727 kit in the shop that has the brass filter.

They make and market them for high performance/race a good reason.

We learn the most at the track...a lot of that go's into factory production.
