Last year with a dying TCI 3400 converter/ 727 tranny I ran a 13.23 @ 105.xx with a 1.987 60ft.... This year I have a Dynamic 3600 converter with a more than healthy 727...(thanks to moparts member "moper" for the trans build & bodywork!) Hopefully I can hit 12s this year, that's been the goal since I got the car in 2000.

Good luck! put 3 gallons of good fuel in it and get that timing up to 38 degree's and run 76/80 in the carb! Get the timing all in at 2200 to 2500 rpm. You will need all the 60ft time you can get with the wieght of that car.

I don't see why you wouldn't be in the 12s with that. My motor is milder than yours and it's solidly in the 12s.

Mikel, your around 700lbs lighter than him.

Yes, but I also have a) smaller cam, b) less compression, c) iron heads, d) crappier converter, e) crappier headers, f) taller tires, g) smaller gears and h) vacuum secondary carb.

I would think that if my ride goes deep into the 12s, his should at least run high 12s, even with the extra weight.

did not mean to upset you man

You didn't!

I'm just saying... He should be able to hit his target of 12s without a problem.

Good Luck, I'm sure you'll get it :thumrigh: Your combo seems more than adequate to run 12's. You might want to change out that Orange box for a MSD 6AL or Crane HI-6 in the near future, I'm sure you'll like the difference in performance.

What a frigggin disappointment and waste of my time/money today was.

For starters, the car hooked better with NO burnout. 2.072 compared to 2.084 with a weak burnout. The line-loc I ordered from my buddy's shop never came in, so the car kicks sideways when warming them up.

Next, the car felt redicculously spongy, nothing like when I had taken it out last night and the night before - thoughts of being too rich come to mind. Either that or my brand new Holley pump is trash.

3rd, it started blowing oil out the front seal area of the valley.

4th, it also started spraying coolant out of a pinhole @ the clamp on the intake side of the heater core return hose.

Finally, to top it all off, I found out that the throttle wouldnt open all the way - I wound up cutting the cable insulation back (first culprit) and unhooked the kickdown linkage because it was the second culprit (tied it back, since I would be WOT the whole time) - frikking stupid car slowed down a tenth.

13.58s @ 103.x ... with a last pass of 13.68 @ 102.x

Needless to say I parked it after the 3rd pass.

What a waste of time $22k and you can take it away

You'll get it. mid 13s is stil a good time.

Not when I was low 13s last year, with a higher mph and crappy converter - doesnt make sense to me :farao:

Believe me I know how you feel :eye: . Keep at it. Tune Tune
Tune. I started out begining of season high 14's, then mid then
high 13's now mid 13's.
Still looking for the low 12's high 11's its supposed
to be doing. Gets better everytime. Don't give up.

Season is pretty much done up here, I don't have any other days where I can get to the track. Maybe if I pull the new converter/tranny out, and put the old blown up stuff back in, it will be faster, or at least as fast as last year?
